Anyone see the Arsenal/Blackburn FA match? Freidel was absolutely unbelievable. Completely saved Blackburn's behind in the last ten minutes.

Friedel's fingertip save and recovery was fantastic, even made it onto SC's top 10 on a Saturday filled with college BB.

There's talk of the US putting in a bid for the 2018 World Cup.

That's been in the plans for a while hasn't it. It will be interesting to see what kind of Stadium renovations the US will be willing to do to draw it. I would think the US would have to be huge favorites for it. I just don't see Mexico drawing much interest from Fifa right now.

Finally reading over the article I would think the US has a slight chance to get it in 2014. South America only has Brazil and Columbia as the only two countries as candidates. Honestly I think Columbia has no shot in hell in getting it. If Blatter is not confident in Brazil, he said he wants to go north.

The World Cup is a cash cow, and he knows how much money it will bring in in the US a 2nd time around. Not to mention how much more prepared we will be the next time.

I hate ESPN. I start watching the Real Madrid/Bayern Munich game this morning that I recorded and ESPNC runs the final score across the bottom a few minutes into the game.

It was a pretty decent match and if you have the time, it wouldn't be a waste to watch it anyway.

Didn't really have the time, so I just watched the goals.

Strange game for Barca and Liverpool. So many missed chances on both sides.

My cable company (Comcast) just dropped ESPN Classic from our lineup today. I am not pleased about that...

Just watched the Champions League highlight show that aired on ESPN2 Friday afternoon. They do a good job with it (as in 99% of it is highlights).

That would actually be a show where I wouldn't mind some commentary from ESPN, assuming that Tommy Smythe was doing analysis.

The first trophy English trophy of the season is at stake on Sunday, The Carling Cup. Its Arsenal and Chelsea and its not on American tv. aggravating.

Well, there's plenty of time to analyze plays during the highlights, but they do a pretty thorough job running through the highlights of all 8 games in just an hour.

The first trophy of the English season was awarded yesterday with Chelsea winning the League Cup 2-1 over Arsenal in Cardiff, Wales.

John Terry got hurt (again), he got whacked in the face with a boot and was out cold. He checked himself out of the hospital and looks like he'll be ok. Didier Drogba once again proved he's one of the best strikers in the world, as he knocked in both goals, including a brilliant winning header in the 85th.

1 trophy down, 3 to go.

No mention of the 20 man 'brawl'?

I was thinking about mentioning it, but it was so pathetic, I figured it was better left unmentioned.

Sorry, you're probably right - but it could lead to repercussions for (certainly) Adebayor and Touré, and most likely Fabregas, too. Lampard wasn't completely without blame, either.

On the positives side, as well, Walcott's first goal for Arsenal was very nicely made and taken. All things being well, I should be at the Blackburn vs. Arsenal replay on Wednesday.

to me it seemed so unnecessary. the game was pretty much over by that point, getting a straight red shoots your team in the foot for the league and arsenal needs all the points it can get right now.
