I missed it live, but I'm quite glad that FSC decided not to show the gruesome angles that they had. They only replayed the original shot as it happened and you couldn't really see it. Needless to say I probably won't be watching that video.

They said it looked really bad, though.

haven't watched, nor will i, i have a weak stomach for sports injuries.

fsc showed wegner after the match and he was irate about the tackle and injury.

Couple thoughts on the EPL today:

Dempsey squandered a really, really good chance in the 2nd half today. He had a chance to loft it over the keeper who was 8 yards off his line but didn't get anywhere near enough under it. He's still probably their best player in the attack. If they get relegated, what are the odds that he's sold?

Newcastle sucks.

That makes two of us. The little kid hitting the dad in the nuts with a wiffle ball bat is funny. Broken legs, ankles, arms, is flat out gross. Theisman comes to mind, but Henrik Larsson's injury around 8 years ago takes the cake for me on worst injuries I remember ever seeing.

The reactions I have read make it sound horrible, while I am curious I will not watch it. Wenger was flat out pissed. It sounds like his career is in serious jeapordy with the double compound fracture in which he has already had surgery on. He had to be given morphine and oxygen on the pitch before even being carried away.

It's bad, but not as bad as Matsui's wrist last summer. Still, it's fairly similar, so if you've a weak stomach, don't watch it.

good work, spurs

boo!

though i can't really say i'm upset about losing the league cup.

Spurs absolutely had to have it to get into Europe. They aren't going to qualify via the league. You have to like the direction they are going under Ramos, though. Very Aresenal-like.

Sadly enough, I think that was our best chance at silverware this year.

I could easily see Chelsea and Liverpool dropping out of the top 4 and Spurs and Everton/Villa getting in.

Oscar De La Hoya is buying the controlling stake of Houston Dynamo. That's pretty cool.

if spurs aren't top 4 next year it's a disappointment

there's too many things to be decided before i agree or disagree with this statement, but how many years have we been hearing this about tottenham? they looked pretty damn good going into this season, jol helped pissed that away. they're playing well now, but i'm not sure if they can put it together for a full 38 matches. i'll believe in them as a top 4, when i see it.

that's so disappointing but probably true. we've had a chance to creep back into the prem race but gave that away with the draw at pompey. champions league is still a long shot, with a shouldn't have been tough home match against olympiacos next week.

we haven't seen a season where chelsea came away empty handed since the mad russian came in (except for ranieri's last season), i'm curious to see if he goes on a spending spree this summer.

Oh I completely agree with you in this regard that Tottenham has been a sleeping giant, if you will, for a long time, however that doesn't hide the fact that with the investment put into this team it would be a disappointment if they're not top 4 next year.

In fact, between Tottenham and Roma, I'm a fan of two huge perennial underachievers. Oh, and the cubs, of course.

Eduardo was released from the hospital today, and is expected to make a full recovery in about 9 months. Still that is the type of injury that could linger in the back of his mind for many years.

Also here is a Dempsey article in regards to possible relegation. If Fulham fail to make it out of the relegation zone I would expect him to be sold, or at least hope he would be.

Heartbreaker, Seth. I thought you had 3 points in the bag.

Oh well. Probably better to not chase a scudetto they probably weren't going to get and instead concentrate on shoring up 2nd and getting as far as possible in the Champs League and Coppa Italia

Another disappointing result for Arsenal though not nearly as bad as last week as they were held to a draw at home against Aston Villa. I realize that Villa is 5th/6th in the EPL but this is a game that Arsenal should be winning. Now they are only a point ahead of Man U and seven ahead of Chelsea though the Blues have a game in hand. Still a long ways to go as Man U and Arsenal each have 10 games left and Chelsea has 11. Also, all three teams still have to play each other with Chelsea hosting both teams and Man U hosting Arsenal.

If you were wondering how you were going to be able to see the U.S. Under-23 national team's path to qualifying for the Olympics, wonder no more.

Fox Soccer Channel will air all of the U.S. team's Olympic qualifying matches live, and will broadcast the semifinals, third-place match and final, US Soccer announced on Monday.

Also, ESPN360.com is set to air all of the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying matches, including Groups A and B, and will allow them to be seen up to 48 hours after completion.

The matches were already set to be broadcast in Spanish on ESPN Deportes.

The United States will play Cuba (March 11, 8pm), Panama (March 13, 8pm) and Honduras (March 15, 7pm) in group play. the top two teams in the group will face the top two teams from Group B (Mexico, Canada, Haiti, Guatemala) in semifinal matches on March 20, with the winner of each semifinal awarded a berth in the Olympics.
