US should have won the game. That's all I really have to say, other than I was disappointed with Bradley's coaching/subbing in this game.

the overall performance was disappointing but i have to keep telling myself that this is such a young team playing in this tournament. i was very happy with ej's performance. i'm not as down on him as lot of us supporters are, but he showed that he can play a little bit tonight. his finishing leaves much room for improvement but i think he can still contribute to the usmnt.

 

i would love to have seen at least half us stocked roster for this tourney to see how we'd perform. the youngsters are getting it handed to them in the scoreline but are showing us signs to be optomistic.

Adu has two: a beautiful turn with a shot across the box that hit the post and went in. Also a bender from about 50' that was world class as well. He has looked unbelievable in this game.

 

Danny Szetela got his second in two games on a fantastic header that hit the top post and bounced in.

 

Altidore has been alright, but Szetela and Freddy have me excited about the future. Bradley has been very solid as well.

Its on ESPN U, so I haven't been able to watch any as I have to go to a bar and I have had to work. Fifa.com has had highlights of every game, I'll check to see if they are up yet.

 

This is the kind of performance at a championship level I have been waiting to see for some time. 6-1 at any youth world cup his huge, especially when our top players are the ones performing.

That was maybe was of ther best goals I have ever seen from anyone where a US jersey. Watch ESPN's top plays tonight, it better be #1. Simply amazing!!!

 

That was the best I have seen any US team play at that level ever. I am truely amazed at the quailty of the goals they put up. Can't wait for the Brazil matchup now. Even though the US leads the group, they could still not make the next round with a loss to Brazil.

from my readings, it seems that some people are down on freddy adu's long term future with team usa and his club career as well. maybe, being "down on him" isn't the right word, but have lower the ridiculous expectations that were put on him early in his career. clearly, being so young still is playing a role, but i'm still trying to learn more about the us team and i don't know if the mainstream soccer media is just being knee jerk about his lackluster mls career.

 

what are your assessments of his future? will he be someone that the usmnt will be built around for 2010, 2014, and 2018?

Landon Donovan had similar expectations at the same age. For the most part he has done well, and I don't think he has lived up to the expectations he had.

 

For Adu it is time for him to go over to Europe. I think it is important for the US to realize he is probably 8 years away from peaking.

It was outstanding. One of the best I've seen from a US team.

 

On another note, I'm happy to see one of our national teams be able to play a through ball. It seems that the USMNT doesn't quite understand the concept very well, but the U-20 team is VERY good at it - from up close and out far.
