yes! one of my favorite dusty-isms, have pitcher bat in key situation then yank him after about 2 pitches the next inning.

Since a trade is a possibility, it is very well possible it was a way of allowing him to get on the mound and be removed for another and possibly final ovation.

Which in the grand scheme of things, with us being 20 games out, I have no problem with.

Joe Buck is saying Maddux is getting traded.

Speculating. I don't think Joe knows anything period, let alone anything we don't. That said, I also believe Maddux will get traded.

Joe isn't that bad. I think he can be pretty entertaining at times.

 To each his own, I guess. I think Joe is as entertaining as a headache.

If Maddux is going to the Mets, We better see Lastings Milledge in cubbie blue

Well, considering it was implied that the Mets could get Zito at anytime for Milledge, I'm pretty sure Maddux won't get it done.

Minaya is not that foolish.

I think theyll give us Xavier Nady

Miledge could already be in Cubbie blue if the Cubs would have drafted him instead of Harvey. :x

That would be fair value

That reaction from Greg makes it look like Maddux knows he's gone.

I agree. I think that was it. I hope wherever he goes wins the World Series if he is traded (unless it's the Cards or White Sox).

Maddux has such class I could,if drunk, even root for the ( cannot say it ) and (cannot say it) if he is traded to either.

Greg Maddux, class act, great pitcher. All the best to you Greg. You're the best.

Let's throw Maddux, Cedeno, and someone else at them for Reyes.

That someone else would have to be Zambrano.

It's a damn shame that we couldn't have done more winning while he was here to help him get into the HOF wearing that Cubs hat.

Very true, but also quite a bit of 20/20 hindsight there. Not one person on this board or any expert out there called the choice of Harvey a foolish or bad selection at the time. And maybe, and I stress maybe, they had good reason. Harvey is hitting .310/.333/.655 with 9 HRs in the month of July. Might some sort of light has turned on for him?

FWIW, Harvey hit four homers yesterday. Now if he could just be a bit more pitch selective. It seem he hasn't seen a pitch he doesn't like.

So if dont blow our lead today, we finally get out of the 20's and are 19 games under 500 :)

We're the 05 Astos...

Nah we just don't wanna pick too high in the draft next year.

Haven't been following the game thread but is Maddux basically traded then and if so, to who?

No trade.

Maddux pitched a great game though. Got 2 huge ovations and he acknowledged the crowd as he came out of the game.

Almost as laughable as Ozzie Smith being in the HOF.

Ozzie Smith definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame.

No doubt he reinvented the position...

Not on your life. If Ozzy played today, he wouldn't even start for most teams.

This alone makes him a hall of famer in my book.
