I hate Fox, and specifically Joe Buck. All they do during their broadcast is bash the Cubs. How they get away with it, I don't know.

Interesting to revisit the Pierre/Patterson debate, Pierre is catching up quickly.

Juan

.284/.332/.377 37SB

CP

.281/.313/.417 33SB

That gap was a lot wider just a month or two ago. I'm not saying resign Pierre, but he's been playing very well since June.

Pierre is closing the gap, but he's still got a ways to go. He's #21 in VORP of all centerfielders. Corey is #14. And Juan has a lot more at-bats than some of the people that trail him in that statistic.

We wouldn't have had to give up Nolasco and two other pitchers to have Corey in CF this year, too. Nolasco's VORP trails only Z, Eyre, and Howry.

And Corey is about $3 million cheaper than Pierre.

IMO, Pierre has to outproduce Corey convincingly for the trade not to be a total disaster.

Who here thinks this performance from Maddux today helps get him traded?

I would guess that it curtails any concerns a GM might have that Maddux has lost it.

Someone like Omar Minaya is probably taking a hard look at the situation. It seems his only option would be to give up Lastings Milledge to get Zito or look to Maddux and give up a lesser prospect or two depending on the deal.

Victor Diaz for Maddux

That reaction from Greg makes it look like Maddux knows he's gone.

I agree. I think that was it. I hope wherever he goes wins the World Series if he is traded (unless it's the Cards or White Sox).

That's what I thought too.

Maybe Dusty came out there and told he's gone.

Well, he really hasn't provided a chance for me to post this. But here the Maddux we saw today.

I would certainly hope Maddux is worth more than Victor Diaz, who is putting up the stellar line of .230/.287/.345 in AAA.

Joe Buck is saying Maddux is getting traded.

Speculating. I don't think Joe knows anything period, let alone anything we don't. That said, I also believe Maddux will get traded.

Joe isn't that bad. I think he can be pretty entertaining at times.

I have mixed feelings about Maddux being traded. I mean, sure, if we can get a solid prospect or two, I'm all for it, but since I don't have that kind of confidence in Hendry, I'd like to be able to see Maddux pitch some more this season.

yes! one of my favorite dusty-isms, have pitcher bat in key situation then yank him after about 2 pitches the next inning.

It was a bunt situation and Maddux got the job done. He also wouldn't have taken Maddux out after 2 pitches if he didn't allow a double. I don't think Dusty did anything wrong there.
