JP looked like he took about 2 steps towards that ball before giving up.

What the hell was that? Either he got the worst jump ever or he gave up on that way too soon.

Get out of the inning, Rich.

Coupled with the fact that Murton completely misjudged Luna's ball.

I think that ball just died...I think everyone out there thought it was gone until it hit about a foot from the top of the wall.

Has he thrown anything inside?

Hrabosky did knock Wrigley in saying the clubhouse is small and is a horrible place to be during rain delays. He also said visibility from the dugouts is poor because the field is crowned so much.

Mentally Hill will never be a starter. He doesn't have the stones? Look how he folded after the HR. Marshall hangs in there and gets the outs he needs.

Just struck me as odd to throw a first pitch curve to Weaver, who has been in the AL all year. On top of that Hill hasn't thrown but one or two for a strike.

Get ahead of him and then get cute if you want to.

Either way, Murton has to be further away from the wall if he has no chance to catch it at the track (and since everyone thought it was gone, he should have had that impression already).

First pitch curveball to Weaver?

Why?

Cause that's his only good pitch.

Have you been watching today?

Nope, but I don't need to watch tonight's game to know that Hill has a really good curveball and nothing else.

That was bad too, but I don't think it cost the Cubs anything since Edmonds would have scored no matter how Murton fielded the ball.

True, but neither did Pierre's..even if he had run full tilt he would still have been 8-10 feet short of that ball.

Tonight it's all fastball. His curve isn't doing anything.

Murton has been out there enough to recognize that it is a possibility. And I think he did because he never gave up on it. He just plain out misjudged iit. Hill needs all the defense he can get.

Again he's a one pitch pitcher and is a future lefty specialist..

Like I said he had a great first inning and he wasn't using his curve to get it done. Got Pujols out with fastballs

His curve has been awful today, his FB was great in the first (great location and velocity) and pretty good in the second (gave 3 bad ones: Encarnacion's HR, Luna's double and one to Weaver who fouled it back). He's definitely shown a big league FB today.

He's still not very good at playing balls hit into that cutaway area.

If the Cubs ever practiced defense, maybe he could practice that.

I know that Weaver was horrible in his first start with the Cards, but does anyone know how he did in his other start(s) with them? I'm too lazy to look it up.

Maybe that double by Hill will help boost his morale a little bit. If we get the lead back I think he'll do ok.

That's what I thought after the Cubs scored 2 in the 1st!
