Boo. The Cubs are winning too much. If this keeps up Dusty will get extended and Jimbo won't blow up the team like he should.

That will probably happen regardless of their play. If they don't win, they don't have the horses.

Neifi saved us!

Give that man a 20 year extension and retire his number immediately after he retires.

YES!!!

What's our record against the Cards this year now?

7-3

4-2 against the Mets too. This team is completely befuddling.

The Cubs went 3-3 against the Mets losing the first series 2-1 and winning the second 2-1.

Cubs win and Rich Hill's ERA increases? Interesting.

Interesting indeed! Well as other poster said we needed give Hill the lead so he can relax. Well the cubs did and the next inning Hill gave it back. So much for that theory...

What a mornic post. But one of many unfortunately. I so wish NSBB was around when Maddux or Grace were breaking in the bigs.

Not everyone is Lirano.

That's true, but I think these people realize that. They are not complaining about Marshall even though his ERA is right around 5 for the year, which is close to where Maddux was his first year (5.61 to be exact). The problem is not only Hill's stats, but how he looks on the mound. He is walking everyone, and people are hitting the ball hard most of the time when he gets it in the zone. He will have to have a great start next time out just to get his WHIP down to 2. I want him to start for the rest of the year, because seeing what he has is still the best thing for his team. He may surprise us-I am willing to wait until then to make a more definitive evaulation, but he's going to have to show more then he is right now-some more innings like the 1st inning last night would go a long way towards that. Hopefully we get a chance to see what he does in August and September.

Maddux and Grace at least showed signs of why you would be wise to keep them around. Outside of the curve, which only works sometimes, Hill has shown absolutely diddly in the bigs that indicates he has a chance at a career as a decent MLB starter. I agree he should be up here for the rest of the year to see if he can do anything if Hendry isn't going to move him now, but indicating he has anything even close to the potential or flashes Maddux and Grace showed is absurd.

Do Hill fans continue to forget that he's TWENTY-SIX? He needs to be good now or he won't have a chance to hit his prime...

Like I said earlier in the thread, pitchers are much much more variable in their career paths than hitters.

Still don't want to give up on Hill. Give him several more tries. If he shows NOTHING by then. Then fine, good-bye. But don't give up already.
