in the real world I'd say this would be a somewhat close matchup. In NSBB world there is way too much hate for U2

A - I don't think it's possible to hate U2 too much

B - In the real world, LZ would annihilate U2.

well, one band has sold a bazillion albums, and the other has sold 2 bazillion albums, so I guess they are both, what, bazillionaires or something?

Let me rephrase point B - in the real world, LZ is a much MUCH better band.

The fact that they've both sold a ton of records doesn't mean much to me. Didn't N'Sync set a record for album sales when one of their albums came out? People with no musical taste whatsoever buy albums too.

Pffft.

All you need for U2 is the best of 1980-1990 album. That will do it for you right there. The only way to get the feel for Led Zeppelin is to buy EVERY SINGLE ALBUM. Period. Otherwise you are doing yourself a tremendous diservice. And you know what....they have a frickn box set of all ten albums. Nobody in their right mind would want a box set of all U2 albums.

Go away Bono, go very far away.

I'm shocked that this is so close. I'll be sickened if LZ looses to U2. :x
Agreed. Led Zeppelin is IMO the greatest band ever, and if they lose to the band that has put out the same album 6 times in the last 15 years... I'll probably cry.

How do you figure? The first 3 albums of the 1990's are nothing like the last 2, structurally, sonically or lyrically.

And FWIW, U2 is amazing live as well.

Through the mid to late 80's, U2 was hands down my favorite band and these 5 albums are the reason why:

Boy

October

War

The Unforgettable Fire

The Joshua Tree

I'd take these 5 albums over Led Zep and I'm a fan of Zeppelin.

Zep is in my holy triumverate of Beatles, Radiohead and Zep. So, had to vote for Zep.

U2 does have some stuff I like however, mostly the early stuff.

I won't join the U2 trashers. They've had some good stuff, and some stuff of substance over the years.

Zep is just too much-----maybe too much for anyone else in the tourney. I'll vote for Zep over the Beatles if it comes to that.

U2 doesn't suck, but LZ is just a much, much better band. And as for the U2 being good live -- isn't Zep arguably THE live band? Their dvds are simply amazing.

Absolutely, that double disc live Zep concert DVD is just SICK SICK SICK.
