Time for a

I'll be at Silver Beach in Michigan tomorrow, so I won't be seeing this game. Probably so much the better.

Geez, 11 AM? I will barely be through my first cup of coffee at work...

Edit: Do the Mets have a PRIOR Engagement?!

No such luck. No clever puns so far (must wait for Prior to actually win a game)

Cubs, Prior go for sweep of host Mets

Consider yourself lucky, the game starts at 9 AM out here.

Will Prior last enough innings to qualify one way or the other?

well yeah, but it's the cubs, so consider yourself lucky because you don't have to watch.

If Prior fails to make it thru the 3rd again (and I'm sure he will) think they'll be any thought to shutting him down for the remainder of the season?

Given this season is lost, I'd like to see Prior DL'ed for the remainder of the season and Guzman called up to take his spot.

I'd rather Prior work through his issues the next 2 months to get a better idea of how he'll be in 2007. Guzman doesn't necessarily have to be pitching in the majors right now, he just needs to be pitching healthy somewhere.

I agree if Prior is truly 100% healthy. Otherwise, he needs to be shut down.

I see zero reason to make him pitch every 5 days short of him dominating today for at least 6 full innings. Put him on a 10 day rotation and split his 5 day spots with Guzman and give both a chance to work off their injuries.

:-k

You can only pitch in the rotation if you dominate for 6 innings?

I don't see any benefit to this plan. Guzman just needs to pitch, it doesn't necessarily have to be in the majors. Hill needs to pitch in the majors. Prior needs to work past his issues.

If Prior is healthy, I think he should be making his regularly scheduled starts for the rest of the year. They need to get an idea of what he may be able to provide next year and, let's face it, his trade value can't get a whole lot lower anyway.

I'd like to see Prior be forced to pitch the next 500 innings or until his arms, legs and head fall off.

pagan should really never start.

Pagan overall

.236 .276 .436

vs righties

.229 .270 .514

in July

.229 .289 .514

Murton vs righties

.269 .327 .341

in July

.372 .429 .442

Pagan doesn't even have the excuse of "knowing" the stadium. His OBP is abysmal, and that SLG is propped up from that mini streak before the all star break.

Speaking of Murton do you realize that Zambrano and Murton have the same amount of Homeruns? That's pretty darn funny...
