A few nights ago, HR and Kruk got into a pretty heated argument on the air about something (can't even remember what, I think it was whether A-Rod should be traded). Wonder if that had anything to do with it.....doubt that it was the sole reason for him getting fired but may have been the last straw. Maybe something else happened off the air after that.

Rumor has it that he walked off the set right after that argument (your memory is correct, it was over A-Rod) -- they cut to commercial, came back and he was gone.

Who was arguing which point?

IIRC, Harold was saying A-Rod would never be as good as he could be in New York and that the Yankees should trade him. Kruk was saying that A-Rod should get tougher and deal with the pressure.

Leave it to those two to each pick a stupid side to argue.

Another reason to hate the Yankees and their fans. Their booing of ARod set off a chain of events that led to Harold being fired.

Kruk and Reynolds often would get into arguements that would leave you feeling uncomfortable. I loved it.

Steve Phillips is too predictable in his opinions. Probably why he is not a GM anymore. I'd love to see Steve Stone fill someone's shoes. This is clearly ESPN's loss. Reynolds has been great.

I'm kind of surprised at the amount of people that like/liked Reynolds on BBTN. I think he's awful. Saying he wasn't as bad as Kruk doesn't really mean much to me. A broken arm might be better then a broken leg, but I don't want either.

No doubt Kruk's reasoning contained a lot of clicks, grunts, and flatulence.

If this is the argument I'm remembering, it wasn't quite like that. Harold and Steve were arguing that A-Rod should be traded because he couldn't handle the pressure of NYC. Kruk got really angry at that and called them both out for it, because he thought they were implying A-Rod was a spineless wimp. Naturally, Philips and Reynolds tiptoed around the matter. Kruk actually defended A-Rod pretty well, much to my surprise.

Here's an account of the argument in an unrelated article:

Bob Raissman[/url]"]On Sunday's edition of "Baseball Tonight," Phillips was at it again. It only takes a blink of an eye, and the letter "A" rolling out of someone's mouth, to set him off.

"Ultimately, they are going to have to trade him and they can trade him if the time is right," Phillips said. "It's become the thing to do in New York to boo Alex Rodriguez. . . . When that happens in New York, it doesn't stop. Now we see it impacting his performance. I don't see how he gets out of this rut. The Yankees have to move him and cut their losses now because it can get to the point where they can't move him."

Phillips was so persuasive, his colleague Harold Reynolds agreed A-Rod should be moved. John Kruk dissented. Reynolds and Kruk argued. This was wonderful TV inspired by Phillips.

Gah. Harold was the best part of that show. They fired the wrong guy.

Actually, Karl Ravech and his visible lack of patience with the others on the show is the best part of the show.

He does make it somewhat amusing.

Dang, I didn't know Karl still did the show. I've tuned in twice this season and some other doofus was hosting both times. I thought Karl finally had enough and got a real job.

For the sake of his mental well being, I hope Karl got out of there.

It's fun watching him when he's hosting BBTN and posing a topic that he knows is just going to lead to a disaster of a discussion. There was one time last season when he was hosting the BBTN right before the Sunday night game of the week. He was doing an interview with Joe Morgan and you could see the frustration on Karl's face when he couldn't get a straight answer out of Morgan on about five consecutive questions. I really wish I had recorded that interview.

Hey, if you had to work side-by-side with guys like Kruk and Phillips on a daily basis, I'm sure the quality of your own work would suffer, too.

Harold Reynolds was actually tolerable on Baseball Tonight.

Can we pay a bunch of female ESPN employees to accuse Joe Morgan of sexual harassment so he can be fired as well? Is this at all possible?

Harold Reynolds was a very good analyst for BBTN, and those who don't seem to like him, prolly don't like analysts, anyway, and they were going to hate on Reyonlds, regardless.

Something nasty must be happening at Bristol, right now.
