He's at least the everyday starter for the next 3-6 weeks while Counsell recovers from his rib injury. If he's performing as I expect that he will be, I don't see Counsell getting his job back.

Wait, you mean that rookies brought up aren't forced to either play a crappy platoon or sit on the bench for 2 weeks and then get sent back down?

Two young prospects were called up in that series between Milwaukee and Arizona. Tony Gwynn Jr. was also called up by the Brewers. But, he will see limited action in CF.

Gwynn arrived just before batting practice Saturday, just as Brewers general manager Doug Melvin and manager Ned Yost discussed the move. They considered promoting the versatile Vinny Rottino, who would have provided help for an infield missing Koskie and J.J. Hardy (ankle) but instead chose Gwynn because he is a left-handed hitter. When Gabe Gross starts in center field, as he did Saturday, the Brewers had no lefties on the bench.

Yost plans to stick with Brady Clark and Gross as the regular center fielders.

"We'll pick spots for Tony to play," said Yost. "But are we going to throw him in center every day? No, we're not doing that."

He responded tonight by going 0-3, 1 BB, 1 R 1 K.

Dusty: How in the world did he score a run?

That made me laugh.

And now i may just cry :(

That was quick...let's see how the kid responds.

Dusty: hey, don't take walks, they clog the bases for guys who can run.

My guess is he'll lose that rookie status as he's going to get his AB's.

"(Drew) is going to play," Melvin said. "We wouldn't have him here if he wasn't going to be an everyday player."

I wish Dusty held that philosophy.
