You can write what you want, say it how you will, bottom line is that my hermit crab can pitch better than he does. Maybe he's Dusty's long lost son... that's all I can figure.

Novoa = Hawkins, I've said it from day one.

Hawkins was much better than Novoa.

In the middle relief role, yea he was.

Novoa throws 97. That's got to be the reason he's still here.

Novoa has not improved on his secondary pitch. I dont care how hard you throw you need a secondary pitch. Wuertz secondary pitch is so much better than Novoa but his fastball isnt 97. Wuerz' changeup is nasty, nothing about Novoa is nasty except all the homeruns he gives up.

His era would be worse but all the runs he gave up on sunday were unearned. And the unearned had nothing to do with him, they were unearned baserunners marshall gave up. Bastard got lucky.

Agreed.

Thirded. Some people forget that Hawkins was a stud in his first few months with the Cubs, until Dusty started trotting him out for the 9th inning.

That's not completely true. Novoa is terrible, that's for sure. Those runs would have been unearned either way though. The first batter Novoa faced was the double play ball that Walker dropped at second-that should have ended the inning. Then came a single, then an infield single, and then the ball to Ramirez-again, should have been a DP to end the inning-didn't happen. Next batter was the second GS. Novoa pitched terribly, but he didn't deserve the runs Sunday night.

Novoa Sucks, Williamson should be saving games for a contender because he wants to be a closer and is unhappy in Chicago and I am sorry but Wuertz isnt anything special either, IMO. Also, Aardsma deservers a chance..I am willing to give this guy a little bit more time.

sullivan's not a fan either...

Scott Williamson struggled after coming in, Will Ohman gave up a two-run homer and Roberto Novoa continued to pitch poorly, as he has since May.

Novoa has a 5.50 ERA since May 1 but continues to be used regularly with no hint of a demotion to Triple-A Iowa.

Opposing batters are hitting .439 against Novoa in July.

Everytime I turn on the Cubs (which isn't too often these days), it seems Novoa is pitching.

I'll forever associate this team with Novoa.

Maybe it's just me, or maybe because the Cubs suck, but it seems like Novoa is the "stop the bleeding" guy. When a starter is getting worked over in the middle innings and needs to be removed, Novoa seemed like the guy who always came in. Again, this view may be skewed because the Cubs are usually losing but I rarely see Novoa in the later innings.
