Trade Suggestion by Stoney

I was in and out of the car briefly this afternoon and heard part of something Stone mentioned on the Murph show about the Dodgers being a logical trading partner for the Cubs. He said something about the Cubs having Maddux, Williamson, Ramirez and someone else that would be of interest to the Dodgers. He mentioned Izturis and a several possible prospects that would look good in Cub blue.

Not that any trade is going to happen, but did anyone hear Stone's ideas and, if so, what were they? Thanks.

I heard him mention this before on his regular stint on the Score 670. Stone is extremely high on Izturis.

He has spoken about what he feels the Cubs could do. He has mentioned an Aram for Izturis deal. When I heard him discuss it he didn't go too far into a type of deal. He just mentioned Ramirez and Izturis would/should be the two main components in his hypothetical.

As of right now, I don't think this would be a very good move for the Cubs. The Cubs need all the power than can get and he should snap out of his funk. If not this season then next.

Just say no to Izturis. For the sake of my sanity or what's left of it.

Steve has the appropiate last name for his "man love" of Cesar Izturis...he is stoned...Why should the Cubs give up ARam for Cesar, when all it would take is prolly Wuertz, or Novoa to land Cesar's brother, Maicer? Stoney ain't thinking logically.

Eevry time Stone opens his mouth it provides more evidence that he should never be a GM. Aramis is worth much, much more than Izturis is.

It seems like he's jumping on the growing line of thinking that Ramirez's performance this season is one of the biggest reasons we suck, and that he should be dumped because he doesn't "play the game the right way" or play "with heart" or some other such nonesense that people in Chicago use whenever they want to scapegoat a player and run him out of town. Given Ramirez's track record, though, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. He's a good player having a rough season. It happens. He's still entering his prime, and put up excellent numbers in 2004-5.

Ramirez is one of the last guys on this team you should actively pursue a trade with.

No, somehow he'd go there and things would work out perfectly.

I used to think Stone should be a GM - now not at all. He should stick to being the best commentator in the game.

He has a tendency to talk about 'big moves' that may or may not be true. He's the one who mentioned the Aramis for Manny trade last year, and the one who has said that Dusty signed an extension at the beginning of this season and Hendry is waiting for the right time to announce it.

Maybe you should listen better. The proposed trade with the Dodgers was for more than Izturis. It was for their best young pitcher and best young OF. The Dodgers are one of few clubs to have the $$$ to assume ARam's contract. The trade also included Maddux and Williamson.

I would make that deal right now, providing we get Josh Fields from the White Sox to play 3rd.

You're going on the assumption that the Cubs can properly develop young, unproven talent and actually allow them time to develop properly.

Also, how are we magically going to get Josh Fields?

The White Sox needs are righthanded middle relievers and another bat in the OF. We have at least 2 of each for them to choose from.
