Am I the first? I think we need the Buccos to not just pass the Cubs, but fly past them to have any chance of management changes. In the lost season, its time to say "Lets go Bucs!"

I'm torn. I predicted a 4th place finish for these Cubs at the beginning of the season. Oh wait, their in 5th and definitely not as good as the 4th place team.

Go Bucs!

with all the potential first round draft picks The cubs could have next year, and the way the farm teams and players have been playing I have to say that I am looking to the future at this point. I as well am in!

I say: Trade Prior, Wood, Maddux, Walker, Dempster (we could get some GOOD spects for him) Pierre (or don't re-sign him, and get a draft pick), DFA Rusch, Bynum.

Get guys like Guzman, Hill, Ryu, The Riot, Soto/Reyes, Pie(if pierre is traded) some valuable big league experience by playing them freequently.

Here is our Auguest Lineup: Pie-CF Murton-LF Jones-RF Lee-1B The Roit-2B A-Ram-3B Ronny-SS Barret-C

Rotation: Z, Hill, Marshall, Guzman, Marmol

Pen- Closer- Aardsma (like him a lot as a closer) setup- Ryu (better as reliever), Ohmen, Howery, Eyre, Atlee (the minor league closer), Novoa(not sold on him though)

what do you all think???

Sounds good.

Let it all start anew. This is the same attitude that was prevalent on the various boards back in the final days of the 2002 disaster.

First and foremost, get rid of MacPhail, Hendry, Dusty and all the coaches.

Prior is not to be traded. Since there is probably nothing outside of throwing no hitters all the way to the trade deadline to increase his trade value to where it would be worth it to trade him, you just keep him and hope that he stays healthy and gets his velocity back.

The new management team should recognize Walker's value to this team and keep him as well.

There is no reason to trade Dempster, either.

The tradeable parts that I see are:

Williamson- He could step in as someone's closer immediately.

Pierre- He's not worth much and we'd probably have to pick up most of his salary, but someone might be in dire need of a CF by the deadline. Get whatever you can and cut your losses.

Maddux- LA seems logical. They could probably make good use of Williamson as well. With their boatload of prospect talent, the Cubs should see what it would take to lure Guzman and/or Ethier.

Jones- Yeah, he's not doing too bad, but he's a platoon player nonetheless. I wonder if a Jacque Jones, Greg Maddux, Scott Williamson for JD Drew and Andre Ethier deal might work. Kemp appears to be the real deal, so why not work the phone lines with LA and help them win. Heck, Pierre might even be of interest to the Dodgers.

Nevin- His trade stock is rising.

If you're gonna suck, go all-out. I'm hoping this team loses 100 games this year and the management is cleaned out from top to bottom.

Exactly...there's bad and there's 'funny bad.'

Reads good to me as well however, its got to start with a removal of Baker. Despite his claims to contrary, he's shown an unwillingness to let a young player play thru his struggles. Pie, Murton, Roit will all, at some point slump, upon which Baker will start pulling the crap he's currently doing with Murton. Pierre, who will "do his thing" gets start after start to bring his OBP up to .300 yet, Murton after a few bad weeks suddenly needs to be platooned because he struggling with RHP, simply amazing.

I want last year's "patient OBP conscience Matt Murton" back. The guy who hit and got on base before Baker conveniently told him to be more aggressive. Watch him now and see how many first pitches he swings at. He hardly ever did that in the small sample we had of him last year.

I say we re-christen the Cubs as "The Slumpbusters".

It has so many wonderful connotations! :D

You could do a Mythbusters tie-in. Think of the ratings! And the explosions!

I do to but, I don't believe we'll see that version of Murton until Baker' gone. His knowing that playing time is limited and he's got to produce immediately surely must play a part in his recent willingness to swing at first pitches.

Can we get Mark Grace to host it?

By the time Baker is gone, he'll have been completely ruined.

When discussing "Slumpbusters", I'd rather not think of the "explosions".

Too bad the Pirates keep sabotaging this BandWGN from going anywhere.

Well, I'm sure they'll play the Cubs soon.

Last night was a disaster for the Pirates BandWGN but bring on the Royals!
