  1. ding, ding, ding.....we have a winner!
  2. That is a horrible picture...that really hurts seeing him wearing that shirt.
  3. I'm glad your kids had a good time, but I disagree with the Guzman/Blanco statement. They are in no way required to acknowledge you. I can completely understand any Pro athlete wanting to be left alone, and it doesn't seem they did anything hurtful. Anytime an athlete does what Wells/Hill did it should just be seen as a bonus IMO; they are certainly not required to do so. Though if there's more to the Blanco/Guzman encounter, feel free to tell. Look, I agree for the most part. not many of us have any idea what it is like to have people wanting autographs and to talk to you everywhere you go. That is what I was trying to explain to my son. While we are there one or two days, they have people everyday wanting to talk to them. That was not my point. I especially understand the big stars who are the ones getting hammered everyday. My point with Blanco/Guzman is that they were acting like they were the big stars when in reality they have hardly been up in the big leagues. It was a feeling that I am entitled to, but there was a difference between how Lee & Ramiriz, who did not respond either, and how Blanco/guzman responded...there was an appearance about them that they are better than anyone else...
  4. Took my son out there for his first Cubs games...there was a great atmosphere. We went to Friday & Saturday games. The Cubs really played bad both games, but squeaked one win out of it. I will post some pics later, but the highlight for my son had to be on Saturday morning (after getting kicked out of the Cubs hotel) my 9-year old son was able to get Piniella's autograph as he was driving away from the hotel. Totally cool and he thought it was awesome. He also got to talk to Wells, got his auto and also Koyie Hill. He is from Wichita, KS, and we live close so that got him to come over to us. A few disappointments - Angel Guzman & Andres Blanco are punks. They came and left the hotel maybe 4 times while we were there and they would not even acknowledge us. We sat right next to them in the hotel and they acted as if we were invisible. They were acting like they were on top of the world (btw - blanco did not look really that badly hurt ;) ) He loved it which made it a great time for me!
  5. I guess this thread is short-lived!
  6. Anybody have any idea of where the Cubs might be staying in Denver?
  7. let's get involved and the only player I want from the Rays is Ben Zobrist...he would look good at 2nd right about now
  8. Thanks, I got one off of ebay, a kids medium, white pinstripe...he is totally pumped! I hope it comes before Rockies series
  9. I've never been to Coors, but in my experience, if you can find where the players enter the park before the game, you'll get more autographs than you will in batting practice. thanks Vance, I know your the expert...I will try to find that spot, my son would be pumped. How early would they get to the park for a 7:00 game? At an away game, would they be in a bus together?
  10. Hey, where can I get a Sosa tshirt for kids, my son really wants one for some reason (9 years old). Any idea where I might get one. i was thinking not a jersey, don't want to spend 100+ dollars. thanks,
  11. So, just got tickets for Friday & Saturday games...quick question, My son (9 yrs old) is so excited about getting autographs, where is the best place to go, where to stand for him to get the best chance for auto's?
  12. looks like I am heading out there for Friday & Saturday games, taking my boys for their first Cubs games (7 & 9 years old). Just went to KC game against the Rays last week, their first real game, sad it was a Royals game, but at least Grienke pitched. They are so pumped about getting autographs and stuff...
  13. all I know is that if we do make the playoffs and he is still pitching this way, he better get one of the top slots...He has been one of our most consistent pitchers the entire season, if not THE most consistent pitcher.
  14. I for one am not shocked, but am not so upset at Sosa either. I blame MLB. Maybe this is just being cynicle, maybe someone can help me...but why was it wrong? So if someone were to take PED before there was any drug testing policy in place, isn't the fault with MLB, not with the player? The only reason I have heard in the past is that it is illegal (in America). I suppose I do not know how they work, but what if Sosa juiced all off-season and then came to America and did not take them here, would that be illegal? Not sure how they work, but would he shrink during the season? What makes it ethically wrong?
  15. that last inning reminded me of the 9 year old team I watched last night...walk, hbp, walk, walk... sure am glad we have progressed so much further than a 9 year old team
