Hey guys my wife and i are having an arguement about the world cup. Its about beer of course. I told her i dont see anybody in the stadium drinking beer and have come to the conclusion alcohol is not being serverd to keep people from getting rowdy. She doesnt think that is true. Are they serving beer at the games??

Incredible match.....what soccer is all about.

FWIW----BBC reporting USA has offerred the job to Klinsmann @ $3MM per yr.

Eh. Klinsmann isn't a great coach. Better than Arena? Yes. But he did what he was expected to do - get Germany to the World Cup finals. Sure they looked good, but they couldn't take a minute off because they were playing at home. Anything less than being in the final 4 would have been a huge disappointment. It's not exactly shocking to bring a team like Germany to the semifinals especially considering they were playing at home. I'm not saying Klinsmann isn't a good coach, I'm just saying that he isn't necessarily the savior for US soccer.

Considering how pedestrian a team Germany looked coming in, I'd say Klinsi did a heck of a job getting them that far.

They played in a weak group and were expected to win their group. Then in the round of 16, they were going to play somebody from Group B, which was also a weak group. Anything less than a quarterfinal berth would have been a huge disappointment. Then you factor in that they are playing at home and you are expected to go further. Beating Italy would have been spectacular and would have made a statement for Klinsmann as a coach. But that didn't happen.

In England, you would be correct most of the time.

I've always found I can have a beer, (out of view of the pitch) unless at a European game.

Good call by the referee on the penalty kick. France has looked better but Portugal has had their chances and just need to capitalize. Hopefully the second half will be just as entertaining as the first.

Wow. France making some bad mistakes in the last few minutes.

And I must say that I love seeing the GK up there.

they actually gave the ref from the U.S.-Italy match another one? Unbelievable. Its the semi-final, not some group game.

Yeah, and the very vet. ref who accidentally allowed the guy to have 3 yellows retired after the mistake, a mistake that really didn't effect the outcome of the game, but this jerk is still around.

Henry and Zidane are a treat to watch.

Zidane's been amazing in the knockout stages; he wasn't as dominant tonight as against Brazil, but he did enough. The way he keeps the ball is immense... just won't let it go.

I'm having a good time watching all these games. However I'm getting sick and friggin' tired of every time a player gets slightly brushed againts, he goes down screaming in pain as if shot with a large-caliber gun.

Could you imagine American Football with this sort of dramatics?

Has anyone been given a yellow card for diving yet?
