Ronaldo needs to leave and go away. Every single time a French player got near him and made a play at the ball near the penalty box, he went down. I realized that flopping is part of the game and I'm not arguing against that because that's a whole different ballgame. Ronaldo is one of the best strikers and goal scorers in the history of the game and to see him flop every single time is just pathetic. He should be going around and through the other team to attempt to score rather than trying to get a free kick for his team. World class strikers shouldn't flop all the time. How many times did you see Thierry Henry flop during this match? I can't remember any off hand but I can remember numerous Ronaldo flops. He's done.

 

That being said, France deserved to win this match. Brazil's offense didn't show up until the last 10 minutes of the match and they never seemed to realize that they were playing in the World Cup quarterfinals. France earned this and congrats to them. I didn't want them to win, and still don't, but the fact is they earned this victory.

Henry is an amazing player to watch. I've enjoyed watching him this whole world cup as well as Zidane. I hope France wins, but wouldn't mind Germany winning either.

Personally, I've been a big fan of the growing international stature and maturity of Ribery; he's been amazing at OM this year (though was frustratingly quiet the only time I got to see him live) and its good to see that carry through into the national team.

Gotta root for the fatherland, although I wouldn't be heartbroken to see France win it after watching the mastery that was Zidane and Henry today. That was professional artistry at it's finest. I can't believe they dominated that badly.

I totally agree with you. Ronaldinho didn't do a thing in the whole tournament. I don't know if you took it this way, but I wasn't trying to blame Ronaldo, and only Ronaldo, for Brazil's loss. I just felt that for a world class striker to attempt to draw a foul every single time a Frenchman came at him was just completely lame.

 

The whole Brazilian team didn't show up until the 80th minute today and, as I said earlier, just looked complacent during the whole match. It's almost as if they came in with the mentality that they were Brazil, the top ranked team in the world, and teams were just going to bow before them and allow Brazil to win, which of course is never going to happen in the World Cup Quarterfinals. France played an excellent game today and deserved to win this match.

I really think that Brazil thought they could coast to the semis and then really turn it on and win another world cup. Even in games where they've scored 2 or 3 goals they just looked flat for the most part. I'm rooting for France as of right now since Zidane and Henry are two of my favorite players, but any of the four would be fine with me. I really wish that Rooney hadn't pulled his stupidity against Portugal as I would have loved to have seen England contend for a cup since it's been so long since they've won. Short of all the yellows, this has been a great World Cup IMO.

Ronaldinho showed nothing in this World Cup. And the Brazilian press are rightly killing him for it. Even Fat Ronaldo played better than the Barca midfielder.

 

France just took it right to Brazil. Great win for les Blues.

 

And I've got to root for Portugal at this point.

I just want more entertaining games. In the elimination phase it seems like the referee have been moving more into background - the Netherlands/Portugal game not withstanding - than they were in the first round. There are still yellow cards being handed out but for the most part, it doesn't seem like the referees are controlling the matches. Let's hope this continues through the final.
