There will always be plenty of guys who can hit well but can't find a position.

If they can't play a position, they shouldn't be in baseball. I hate the DH. There's no strategy in it whatsoever. I would also like to do away with interleague play. Dumbest idea ever.

The DH is a stupid rule. For those of you who like it, why don't you go all the way and have an offensive team made up of 9 steroid induced sluggers and a defensive team made up of the Neifis of the world. Barry Bonds could play until he's 70 and hit 1000 HRs.

I agree. I hate it too. It doesn't bother me because I don't watch AL baseball very often, but when I do, I find it a little boring.

I don't like the DH at all. That being said, if baseball was to have had the DH in both leagues to start with, no one would have ever seen Babe Ruth ever swing a bat. Futhermore, as a former (high school) pitcher I'd really be bummed out if I could never get a PA. I'd even consider moving to 3rd or any other position to get an at bat.

What exactly would the players union gripe about? It's not like it forces AL rosters down to 24 men, it's just different players that get the jobs.

It's like I stated before: More money.

If there was no DH, Barry Bonds would have to retire after this year because he can't play the field anymore. But if he wants to play one more year, look how much money some team will cough up to have him DH. Now, if there was no DH, that roster spot would go to a "defensive specialist" or a reliever, who would make far, far less.

I don't care about double switches or sacrifice bunts. Bring on the DH.

Living with Dusty will do that to you.

The DH could help w/ the middle-relief problems in MLB, b/c you wouldn't have to pull your pitcher earlier than you wanted to, b/c you need a bat. It's also good, b/c you can give a guy the day off, but still have his stick in the lineup.

In NL the CF usually needs to cover more ground to make up for the slow corner OF. In the AL the slowest guy can be the DH and each OF can cover the ground that a slower CF (but better hitter) can't. It also allows for a bit more flexiblity year to year. A team can sign a player even though they already have a player for that position, one of them can be DH.

eventually the nl will have the dh. i'd say within 30 years both leagues will have the dh.

i agree with an above post. both leagues should have dh, or both leagues should abolish it. keep it consisent. you don't see the afc getting rid of the 2 point conversion while the nfc keeps it.

I like it the way it is, excluding interleague play.

Keep the DH in the AL. That's where old, non fielding players can go to make their last hurrah. Keep the NL the way it is.

Quit scheduling them to play each other. That's what the All Star game and World Series is for.

I don't have a problem with either interleague play or the DH. I don't think the NL should adopt the DH though because like somebody else said, it makes them different.

We just so happen to be in a phase where the AL has the advantage over the NL. Look at the NFL:

Super Bowls III - XV the AFC won 11 out of 13.

Super Bowls XVI - XXXI the NFC won 15 out of 16.

Super Bowls XXXII to XL the AFC has won 7 out of 9.

League's go through trends. The teams in the AL are trying to keep up with the Yankees and Red Sox right now and so the good players are going to the AL. The same thing has been seen in the Western Conference for the past few years when the Kobe-Shaq era was in full force. It will turn around all in due time.

I kind of like the difference between the leagues.

Agreed..

On the interleague:

Get rid of it. Baseball has gotten all of the "fantasy matchups" already played out. We've already seen the Cubs .v. NYY and Bos, Cards .v. NYY/Bost, LAD .v. NYY, them we had some PAST World Series foes have their "rematch  ". The interleague is no longer a novelty iteam. I would prefer to drop the interleague portion of the schedule, and use those play more games against NL West, NL East. I'm am sick of seeing the "Tiger/Rockies, DRays/Astros" type games. Get rid of interleague.

Scale back the interleague portion a little bit and keep that stinkin' DH away from the NL.
