According to Cubs.com, Wood threw a side on Thursday and "passed the test," but will be pushed back to Monday. Sunday's starter is still TBD.

In addition, Prior will make his first rehab start with Peoria (at home) on either Monday or Tuesday.

Well that's good news. How many rehab starts is Prior scheduled to make?

Two is the plan.

He'll throw a side session at Wrigley on Saturday, so I'm guessing the exact day won't be determined until late Saturday or Sunday.

It's good that they're at least showing some caution with Wood. Hopefully somebody other than Rusch gets the call.

So if Prior throws Tuesday, he should start again on Sunday, June 4, and then might be ready to start for the big team on Friday, June 9, at Cincy (not exactly the best park to have your first game back). If he has a 3rd outing, maybe he starts back at home during the HOU series.

5, and 10 simulated games

And then a few towel sessions when "a little shoulder soreness" is reported after the final simulated game.

Isn't G-Unit back in the rotation already in place of Hill?

Prior vs. A-ballers with severely reduced velocity and another injury on deck. That's fair.

Not sarcastic anymore

I'm not doing anything Sunday. I can start. My fastball is probably only around 47 mph but I throw strikes.

Monday it is for Prior in Peoria.

"I feel good. My arm's coming around," Prior said Saturday after a side session at Wrigley Field. "The timing's off. Mechanically, the timing is off. Usually it irons itself out throwing in games and that type of stuff. It'll come. You just have to be patient."

Prior, 25, and the Cubs have been patiently waiting for the right-hander to get back in the Cubs' rotation. He had a strained muscle in his right shoulder in mid-March, which resulted in the delay.

"Obviously, I would've liked to have been pitching quicker than this," Prior said. "I've been doing everything possible to get back. It's a cliche, but it is what it is."

The plan on Monday is for Prior to throw maximum of 45 pitches over three innings for the Peoria Chiefs, who play host to Kane County. Prior will make at least one more start for Peoria, and a minimum of three Minor League rehab starts, Rothschild said.

If anyone is interested in getting tickets for the game, you can buy them in advance online here and print them at home or pick them up at will call. Here's the O'Brien field seating chart. There's also information on how to tune in the radio broadcast in the minor leagues forum.

Kent McDill in the Daily Herald[/url]"]The plan is for Prior to pitch two times for Peoria, then make the leap to Class AAA Iowa before rejoining the Cubs.

Prior said his fastball is coming back faster than his breaking pitches, and he has worked overtime on improving his changeup.

If he's on the normal 5-day rotation schedule, then Prior should be pitching in Peoria again on Saturday night (June 3) vs the Ft Wayne Wizards. It's also Nerd Night with Myron Noodleman!

That should put him on a schedule to start on the 8th in Iowa vs Round Rock (with the Famous Chicken attending).

Wade Miller, another pitcher the Cubs hoped to have in their starting rotation the entire season, started for Peoria on Saturday against Clinton. Miller is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

:-k No, he didn't start Saturday .... but maybe that's a good sign that he's close to a rehab assignment.

Did Miller start in a rookie league game on Satuday?

Prior is 25? I thout he was like 23 at the most.

...you thought he was 19 coming out of college as the supposed "best college pitcher ever?"

You and you're logic...

I guess it just doesnt seem like he's been in the big leagues that long. I guess time fly's when you're on the DL.

Maybe he did, I didn't hear about it if so. That might explain the mistaken Peoria reference.
