newsflash: srbin has been banned. Just to be clear, it wasn't for his idiotic arguments or the way he made them. 1908 discovered that this was a previously banned poster who came back in through a different IP.

That said, you all can probably stop trying to win the argument against him. ;)

Has anybody else ever been banned twice? If so, what's the record?

Yeah it is pretty bad. I'll change it soon with something even worse.

fits right in w/ the organization's "it's out of our hands" mystical, karma-fueled, bad break-ridden excuse factory.

Pitchers were making clutch pitches against Corey all last year. It was just a tough break.

he was getting some ridiculous strikes called on him by the umps, particularly pitches 3-4 inches off the inside corner. at times it seemed like he was better off swinging at anything because the ump would be raising that right arm no matter where the pitch was.

I'm actually srbin84 on yet another IP address. I figured I should have two at the same time so if I was banned from one, I would still have the other. And yes, it is fun to argue with myself. :)

Any answer to the question though?

How about: "Johnnie B. Baker, excuse maker."

I smell a break-off thread here...

Wait, you guys go and ban someone I actually was winning an argument against? That's not fair.

As far as I know, I am not on anyone's "ban" radar. So to you I say, If you take out Corey's bunt singles, doubles, homeruns, and non infielfd singles...his SLG is not all that impressive.

(You may take this time to win a debate against a non banned member.)

I'm too lazy to go back and read, but was that seriously his argument? If you remove his bunt singles his SLG% isn't impressive?

That's like Dave Wannsdedt saying "If 5 or 6 plays go our way, we win the game."

I'd imagine anyone's SLG% would go down if you removed one type of hit from the equation.

And that is what he somehow failed to grasp.

Before we elect Corey into the Hall, like we did Sisco last year, his numbers since June have been extremely unimpressive and trending downwards. So I wouldn't exactly proclaim that the Oriole coaches have "reached" him yet. Corey was always good for a hot month (except for the years that he wasn't), and I still wouldn't be a bit surprised if he finished the year with an sub .700 OPS and a sub .300 OBP. And the danger for the Orioles is that he teases them just enough with stats like SB to invest several more years in him. To which I say, better them than us. At least we'll be done with our dead weight CF at the end of the year.

corey responds to the banning by going 2/5 with no bunt hits and an rbi

You take away 1 of those hits, and he was only at 200 for the game.

You take away 2 of them, and add 5 K's, and he's regressed right back to old Corey.

Oh how I wish it were true, but of course, it's not. (and we still have plenty of other dead weight vets to pile on)

Now Pierre has passed Corey in OBP, steadily catching up on OPS, and just 1 behind on SB.

Not to praise Pierre, but the Corey HOF enshrinement ceremony has been a bit premature to say the least.

And the absurdity of calling it a HOF enshrinement ceremony has been a bit obvious as well.

The thing that bugs me about Hendry is that he seems to believe that Corey is having some type of career year with the O's. Granted he is barely above his career avgs. but looking at Corey's numbers so far this year, there is nothing impressive about his stats.

.315 obp, .741 OPS? Not exactly impresive numbers and not much different from the .295 OBP .710 OPS he had as a member of the Cubs.

Not directly related but I just saw on Baseball America's website that Corey was rated as the 15th best HS prospect of all time. I don't think I realized he had been that highly regarded.
