I hope we keep losing. If we win like 2 in a row, Hendry is likely to extend Baker following the "hot spurt."

Honestly, its probably a good thing we are losing so much. Maybe some changes will be made.

You cant blame Dusty on this one... But, it will add to the loss column... Which is what really matters.

Given that Dusty's only possible positive is getting the most out of players, when he gets the least out of players I most certainly can blame it on him. (and the players)

Please don't use "Baker" and "Hendry" and "hot spurt" in the same sentence.

Ew.

baker is of no use any longer. obviously, he can't motivate these guys. if the trib doesn't pull its' head of out its' rear, they're going to lose a huge market share to the white sox.

either fire MacPhail or sell the team.

This is the most the Cubs have been under .500 since 2002.

Man, I forgot how ugly that year was.

So does that mean 2007 will randomly kick ass?

I'M JUST SICK OF THIS CRAP...they can't even beat the Marlins....

Looking at the Marlins, I can honestly say that they are much closer to winning a World Series that the Cubs are. They have won twice in the last ten years. The management knows what they are doing. They probably have more productive prospects on their major league team than we have in our entire system.

Agreed. The worst management in baseball= Cubs. People wonder why it has taken so long for us to win. A curse has nothing to do with it, it's all about having the worst management in the MLB(and for quite some time.)

(Shaking head)

The only thing that will surprise me NOW, is if the decide make the nightmare official and officially announce that Baker has agree to an extension. Outside of that...nothing surprise me about this team, this year.

Agreed.

However, need we lose in such dramatic fashion? Only the Cubs can grab defeat from the jaws of victory with such grace and dignity.

Just like 2003, 2007 should be the first year for a new manager as well.

When was the last time they had this bad of a winning percentage, this late in the season? They are at .400 right now. In 2002 they finished at .414. It's one thing to be 9 under in September, but when you are 9 under in May, that shows you something.

On May 24, 2002, the Cubs were 18-28, a .378 winning percentage, 9 games behind the Reds.

So my friend is over (also a Cubs fan) and before we go out to eat we check the score online. 4-3 Cubs. I say "They'll lose by the time we get home".

We come home, check ESPNews, Cubs lose 5-4. I start laughing. He is pissed. Apparently I've already conceded the season while my poor friend holds out hope.

Because we keep marching like sheep into Wrigley field. There's no incentive for the Trib to put a winning team on the field. We'll take whatever cr*p they'll feed us.

A loss today and they'll be 18-28, isn't that a .391 winning percentage?

I apparently completely made up that percentage, but ESPN's standings show 18-28 as a .367 percentage.

But yeah, I get .391.
