I was sure someone would have posted this, but I didn't see it so here we go:

Kerry Wood's sore right shoulder may prevent him from making his scheduled start on Tuesday in Florida.

Prior to Sunday's game at U.S. Cellular Field, Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild could not discount the idea of Wood being skipped a start.

I thought Kerry would make at least 2 starts before going on the shelf. Oh well, cya in 2007.

Yeah, he said he felt like he threw about 8 innings on Thursday and was a little more sore than he usually would be. If they push him back, though, does that mean Rusch would start Tuesday?

The good news...He won't be here next year.

The bad news; One of rusch/Williams/Hill will probably fill his spot. :(

Can't soreness be alleviated with medication? If so, why not go that route and have him not miss that next start?

sure, but then you run the chance of him really tearing something up.

Yeah, I know. I just don't care. Wood's age, salary and impending free agency all make me not give a crap what could possibly happen to him long term. Other teams do it with their pitchers all the time. It isn't inhuman.

Eh, I gotta agree. At some point when a MRI or whatever says everything is put together right, and you're still a little sore, you just have to ask the doc for something to make it not sore.

Can't be a baseball player if you can't play baseball.

He said he was more sore than usual (right spots), but apparently it's not clearing up in normal time.

It's not like his shoulder is about to blow up.

Put him in the pen and have him pitch 2 innings when the 5th starters going. The 5th starter would only need to go 4 innings then. Wood in the 5th & 6th. Eyre 7th. Howry 8th. Dempster 9th. Of course, the 5th starter will still find a way to give up 7 runs. :(

Uh.....yeah I am. I see other teams shooting their players up all the time to get them back out there. If the Cubs don't want to do that with their young players, I'm fine with that, but at some point they should graduate to being treated like most if not all other major league pitchers when it comes to this stuff.
