From Bruce's article this morning:

Minor matters: The Cubs have claimed center fielder Miguel Negron off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays organization and optioned him to Class AA West Tenn. Negron, 23, is on the 40-man roster.

At Class AA New Hampshire, Negron batted .215 with a low on-base percentage of .266. He had 2 homers and 12 RBI. In 130 at-bats, Negron had 9 walks and 25 strikeouts.

Sounds like a Hendry guy, low OBP, lots of strikeouts, little power. Can anyone explain what is going on with the Cubs organization atm. Hendry continues to pick up players that have no chance of helping the Cubs soon. Meanwhile, the offense continues to struggle.

LOL!

Hendry has absolutely lost it.*

Just a thought - Yes, this guy clearly stinks. But could this mean JH is planning to deal Pierre at the deadline and needs a stop gap for this lost season?

Isn't the Cubs new Minor League Director from the Blue Jays organization? Negron was a first round pick in 2000 for the Jays. So maybe Hendry is doing the guy a favor by giving him a shot in the Cubs system.

You know the sad thing? That's a believable scenario.

This is a great signing - He is athletic and fast, can field, and we all know the Cubs are over the top in developing bats! We can rid him of those pesky walks in no time!

Nice one, Jimbo!

Great, another athletic and fast guy to add to the roster.

Perhaps Hendry is preparing to trade Pierre and promote Pie sometime in the next month.

I could see it happening. He trades 3 solid pitching prospects for Pierre and then trades Pierre away for a PTBN or some crap like that. Ultimate salt in the wounds.

Take heart, Willis. Mitre and Wellemeyer are AAAA players. The Cubs also will have a long, steady stream of pitchers coming from the minors that are as good or better than Nolasco.

Having Pierre has given Pie time to mature at Iowa. Perhaps the Cubs have learned from the troubled saga that was CPatt. :D

Sometimes, a move is just a move. Why waste the time and effort on a talented, but YET very raw kid like Negron. Couldn't hurt by taking this gamble.

And no, picking up Negron, does not automatically mean Pierre is going anywhere.....at least not till the deadline.

He used to have it. Then they changed what "it" was, and now what he has isn't "it" and what's "it" seems weird and scary to him.

Then he became the suckiest suck who ever sucked, who couldn't build a team even if it was the buildingest day of his life and he had an electrified building machine.
