Sorry if this has been posted already, but ESPNEWS said that J.T. Snow is respectively asking for a trade from the Boston Red Sox.

Why? He has had 21 ABs in 23 games... He has a .190 avg, .190 slug, but .370 obp., as he's gotten five walks.

You know what I am going to suggest next... Discuss.

What would we do with him when Lee returns?

That... I dont know. The reason he wants to leave is because he is getting limited ABs... 1B and DH are the only two positions he's played in the majors... So replacing Jones cant be an option. I'm guessing back-up 1B? Lee would still likely need days off. And then Cubs can make Mabry back-up OF...

Who would we give? That's the first question.

Why not throw Manny in the deal? :o

EDIT: When is Lee going to return likely?

Stay away Jim...please??????

Welllllll... It could be a way to get rid of players like Perez, Bynum, Pierre, Jones... Which many NSBBers want.

Dollars to doughnuts says that Ryan Theriot would be sent back down in favor of JT Snow if he were acquired.

I'd like to remind everyone that he's one of Dusty's boys... and we all know why. Let's all give a thanks to Darren Baker.

Anyhow, if this goes down, we'll likely have many posts saying

"WHY?!?! D.LEE IS FINE! THE OFFENSE NEEDS HIM!! WHY ARE YOU STARTING SNOW!?"

It is a gamble...

i would be for this.

JT Snow is an able defensive player at 1b. Careerwise .268/.358/.428/.786. Last 3 yrs, .291/.387/.436/.823. Depends really how much Boston is asking for, but picking him up would definitely help out the offensive production we are not getting from 2b right now (by moving TWalk back) and give us a lefty bat we could place 2nd or 6th in the lineup.

He has gap power, not HR power, so no help there though. Dont know what we could do with him after DLee got back though. Maybe a July trade to Atlanta? LaRoche is deep in Bobby's dog house and Brian Jordan is old.

He's 38 years old, and he hasn't been worthwhile offensively since '04. While he's a good defender at first, that's the only position he can play. He's not a good fit for this team.

He seems to make a good babysitter for Darren.

What's the big deal if he sent down - he's just rotting on the bench up here anyways.

That was more in response to the idea that getting Snow would displace one of the village idiots than to any problem I have with Theriot getting sent down. Let's face it, JT Snow won't be taking Perez's or Bynum's place if Hendry is dumb enough to trade for him.

I'd like to revisit the idea for Shealy before dealing for Snow.

Me too...without a doubt. I really like the idea of snagging Shealy. I'd rather pursue top prospects who have the potential to make it, then repetitively signing players we KNOW suck at the ML level.

Ditto. Bruce, if you happen to see this, can you put this bug in someone's ear? (and them slap them profusely until they make something happen)
