They'll be using the bats and then auctioning them off afterwards to fight breast cancer.

I haven't seen any Cubs players mentioned yet, but I'm just going to assume the league specifically asked the Cubs not to use them. Rather, they're going to focus their efforts on the Strikeout Challenge for breast cancer.

I heard Jim Edmonds is one of the players that has chosen to use the pink bats. No word on whether he is really doing this for the cause, or whether he is taking this opportunity to use a pink bat in a game.

I kid I kid

That is really nice of Jim to support the cause

Until this team starts hitting, they should be forced to use pink bats.

What a sexist comment.

Kidding.

Songstress dies at 37. Latin Grammy winner Soraya had battled breast cancer

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/05/11/obit.soraya.ap/index.html

Just another example of why this isn't a laughing matter.

Breast Cancer is not a laughing matter.

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with poking fun at Cubs players and their hitting ability and the concept of pink bats. Pink is a soft color, many Cubs hitters are soft hitters. Pink is associated with women and women don't generally hit major league pitching very well. It's a lighthearted funny situation. Nobody is picking on breast cancer sufferers, survivors or their families.

I don't think we should make a habit of going around telling people what they can and cannot find humorous.

Breast cancer is a terrible thing, but I've heard many cancer survivors talk about the power of laughter, and many of them even joke about their own disease. As long as people aren't going around making fun of people for having cancer, than they aren't doing anything wrong.

Good point: I was wrong and I suck. (Not as bad as the Cubs though.)

Someone please clarify this for me...when they say "pink bats," how pink are we talking? Isn't Jacque's bat already pink?

Pink bats are hilarious. Breast cancer sucks.

The picture I saw looked like they were dipped in a bottle of Pepto.

Heh...that song's gonna be stuck in my head all day now...curse you!

While the cause is tremendously noble, this is going to hurt if any of my baseball-hating friends see the players swinging these things. Ah well...take that, cancer!

What color bats will they use for prostate cancer awareness? I've been told that this is a bigger killer than breast cancer.

Most players wear the powder blue wristbands and such. They do it on Father's Day as i recall.
