whelp, when will Baker be fired? I mean, if we fail to win a game before we return home, this team will be facing the toughest crowd ever. Dusty should just resign now, nothing he can do will get the fans back on his side.

It's almost as if you want to see them lose... to get a better draft choice (do losses make a difference in that?) and to see Baker gone.

The longer this streak goes, the better chance Dusty has of getting fired. Imagine if it goes to double digits?...

This will be and has been a road trip that has and will screw the cubs in the future.

OK, so Hill sucked again, that being said we're not going anywhere when we are scoring 0-1 runs per game.

Hill didn't suck.

he certainly wasn't amazing.

I'm sorry he didn't throw a no-hitter, what un-realistic expectations.

OK HIS 8 HITS 3 WALKS 5 ER IN 6 INNINGS WAS VERY GOOD.

He was lucky to be in SF too. He was leaving way too many pitches up in the zone. Those numbers would have been a lot worse in a lot of other parks.

Lets put a positive spin on this road trip. We are making other team's fans happy when they leave the ballpark.

IM SORRY LEN HOW CAN YOU HAWK TICKETS AFTER AN INNING LIKE THIS??

Perhaps if a couple of our young pitchers wouldn't have to exert themselves in the first inning, maybe they could get to the seventh or eighth.

Yes, because we have to expect perfection out of guys just coming up to the majors at all times.

Your response makes little sense. I didn't even imply perfection was needed, but please throwing 25+ pitches in the first inning kills any team's hopes for their starter to go deep. Man, some of you are touchy. I understand there's this unwritten rule for some that it's only a 6-12 team member problem, but I blame everyone -- rookies aren't excluded-- in a Cub uniform and anyone associated with the construction of this team.

This current stretch of Cubs baseball has to be one of the worst in a long time. This Cubs organization spit in our faces when they gave Hendry that extension. Why? This is just terrible. We have regressed every year since 2004.

I remember the 8-game losing streak the Cubs had last year, and was nearly to the point that I wanted to see it continue so something had to be done. I am now at that point.

Heads have got to roll soon to save next season.

IF you think he's never gonna have a shaky outing, Im not sure why. Not sure why you included the 12 Million in there either. He's been great all year. Just sounds like a smart ass comment because he gave up one of Hill's runs.

the bullpen is dusty-proof though

Not entirely.

He can still use the same guy 5 days in a row while letting other guys rot.

I think Rothschild had to remind him that Dempster was still on the team last night.

How many games do the Cubs loose in a row before Dusty gets canned?

Or do you think he'd get to at least the All-Star game?

Who cares? Cubs cant score for crap anyhow.

sorry. he was awesome. the money spent on him should definitely have not been spent on a serviceable outfielder.

Am I the only one not excited about the bullpen? Don't get me wrong, Eyre is a nice upgrade and Dempster has been better than I expected. But, Hendry is going on 3 years of making the bullpen an offseason priority and I don't see that much of an appreciable difference to date. That being said, I haven't looked at their stats recently.

The Cubs are in free fall. They can't do anything right. And it couldn't come at a worse time. On a westcoast road swing with no off days. I'm not making excuses for them but it has to be tough to be in that clubhouse right now.

Remember in 2003 we talked about how we would never go on prolonged losing streaks because of our stellar rotation. Whoops.

I love Neifi!

No need to rag on the pen, the one part of this team that has been decent all year.

ya lets face it, we were going to lose before eyre even got in the game,

I'm just saying that it's unreasonable to expect rookies and young players to always perform at that level. It happens to a number of pitchers and I think it's unfair to single out certain guys, ya know?

Hill had a mediocre performance out there tonight. It was dumb of Dusty to send him out there for the 7th and it cost Hill a quality start, not to mention a couple of runs.

Had Eyre been out there to start the inning, there would have been a different and likely better outcome than what we got.
