Such a minor issue, though, with the other problems with the organization.

It's become painfully clear that our GM doesn't have a clue, and the roster he's assembled doesn't have a snowball's shot of the playoffs in the foreseeable future.

I'm in agreement than Bynum is not a good ballplayer, but DFA'ing him won't help us in any meaningful way, IMO. This organization needs changes, but the changes need to start where the problems originate: at the top.

Perhaps.

But it would free a spot on the 40 man roster for a hot bat in the minors.

Micah Hoffpauir springs to mind.

Yesterday, Cubs.com[/url]"]

Outfielder Angel Pagan (torn hamstring) has started hitting right-handed and is slowly easing into baseball activities. He's rehabbing in Mesa, Ariz., because he has access to better facilities, such as an underwater treadmill.

We win that game if Maddux sac bunts instead of Bynum.

If you are going to sac bunt, why put in a guy who's never successfully laid one down in his career? I would have much rather seen Maddux brought in to that situation if you're 100% sure you're going to sacrifice bunt.

Bynum sucks. His skills suck. His fundamentals suck. I don't understand why he is in the Major Leagues. I honestly think at least half the people on this board would be more valuable to the Cubs than Bynum. At least I can catch an easy fly ball and lay down a bunt.

Someone had to take the spot of Macias. :D

That's exactly right.

The only thing he brings to the team is speed, but there's already faster guys on this team, and even more in the system that can be brought up who not only run better, but bring other tools to the game.

It's time we cut our losses and be done with him. If he finds success with another team, good for him.

Maybe the Cubs can trade him for Vlad and Figgins?

I'll never understand Hendry's love for for aquirering players that can play multiple postions and not play them that well while not being able to hit a lick and for Baker to over play them. Too many 25th type players on this team.

Agreed...I think he was trying to find his own Ryan Freel or Figgins. Those guys are pretty rare and the best way to get one is to trade for one. I would fully endorse overpaying for one of these players because they are extremely valuable to a good team.

Bynum couldn't carry Macias' jock!

I thought criticism of Macias was always overblown....Baker for starting him too much, yes, of course. The guy had a respectable average with us and could play a number of positions...more worthy of the 25th spot that most Cubs who have filled the position past and present....not that I would have had him on the team if I was the GM.

Bynum was the first man off the bench today. Yep, he is definitely the new Jose Macias.

Seriously, how can Dusty be that stupid?

14 times he has struck out in 28 at bats
