  1. So, what is the schedule as to who goes where, when and do we see them this year?
  2. I see a great many posters are ready to annoint our farm system a top 10 or even a top 5 system and I don't even see a single player anyone could say is the best or close to the best in the minor leagues. Question, who is the best at each position in our system, is Jackson our best outfielder, who is our top right handed starter, shortstop, I really don't know.... .
  3. not a rash decision, and how do we know how one of our youngsters will perform up here, they will play better defense, run better, won't hit the home runs but won't use a 40oz bat that you can't control anymore, I will admit it, I am tired of alfonso,
  4. are we worried about money or winning, Soriano can't hit a swervy (is that even a word) pitch, he can't maintain a rally, can't play defense. I would rather watch a younger player try his hardest than watch soriano look as though he's not trying at all, he may be trying but it doesn't show
  5. To see some of our up coming players we need to bite the bullet and dump several older players, Soriano is getting older, slower and his defense is getting terrible, I know he is leading our team in HR's but that is his only positive. Johnson, Hill, Davis, all need to move on, and time for me to move on
  6. whitenack looked good, kept the ball around the plate, only had a three ball count twice as I remember, no speed guns around but looked in the 90 mph range, no, I am committed friday and sat., may try to go Sunday
  7. Burgess in left looks slow, didn't get a very good look at several balls in left and on several ground balls to the infield slowed down on the way to first but hit a ball so hard to right it was out before anyone moved much. Bour hit a ball about 400 ft only to have the center fielder run it down just as he hit the fence. Ha can run and has a great arm in center, through a runner out at first who strayed too close toward second on a fly ball and almost got another later if Bour could have got a tag down, and he wasn't thtown out trying to steal second, he had it stolen and over slid the bag. He gets a great jump on the ball in center, he went back, way back in the 9th to rob someone of extra bases, rolled over and held up the ball.he liiks good, hope he can hit enough. Lake looks good at short and can hit Cerda looks uncomfortable at third. Brenly is a good catcher. I am Larry and was at the game
  8. Let me clarify, with runners is scoring position, late in the game, the teams realize Soriano is up and throw him a slider a foot off the plate and moreoften than not he strikes out. I am done
  9. all jokes aside, these players are making multi millions and playing like they don't have a care in the world. they are getting older and playing like it, soriano is bad, bad defense, strikes out with men is scoring position, they are tired and playing like it, but as I am not in charge I guess we will have to put up them forever, until we can't get anything for them. don't mind me, I am just tired of multi millionaires leaving runs on base
  10. we need leadership by action, on the field, coming thru in the clutch, Lee, soriano and ramirez aren't giving us that leadership, striking out or soft ground balls, swinging at the pitchers pitch, one question was leadership from where, the older or younger players. whom ever steps up, now when we have runners in scoring position, I cringe when soriano comes up, or lee, but I fell much better when castro or soto comes up, they just seem to get good at bats, and do not worry about Cub fans, the best fans in baseball, they would arrive in droves even if we played AA players. this year or next we will have to replace players anyway, all I am saying is do it now.
  11. not trying to start anything new, just tired of watching our big three striking out at critical times while not reaching out for help, lee stated he knows his swing better than everyone else and doesn't need help, he also vetoed a trade so here we are, a team needing leadership and instead we have old players getting older, and leading us nowhere. we just need to clean house and play younger players who have something to prove.
  12. with lou leaving and before a new manager arrives get rid of lee, trade( i know he will turn it down) him, cut him, now ramirez he now has a extensive history of injuries, trade him to a contender, Soriano, has been bad and getting worse, none of the top three will never be as productive as when they were younger, lets start new.. Keep a small group, bird, castro, soto, colvin, and build around them, I haven't said anything about the pitchers, leave them intact for now. new manager, new team, cheaper team.....I am Larry
  13. Actually Colvin is a good player, not great but can only ger better, but it doesn't have to be tyler, any left fielder would be better than what we have, with Soriano its time to say good bye
  14. I have a unique idea how to improve our team, Just release Soriano, hr is not the whole problem, we have 5 starters hitting under .200,but he is such a bad left fielder, the drop today is at least two or three not caught in left, in only 5 games. I know his knee is probably still weak but he will never never be a good hitter anymore, can't defend and is getting worse, suck up the money, cut soriano, put colvin in left, he cannot be worse, he probably will make mistakes but I see him getting better unlike Alfonso who is getting worse. Time to step up and do the Cub thing and let him sign with another team, Thanks for the memories, go away
  15. did I miss something? I thought he was going to play the rest if the season
  16. Were not talking about home runs, its needing to score a runner from third with less than two outs when a ground ball to second would suffice and he strikes out trying to hit it out or that soriano favorite a pop-up to the second baseman, he caan't do or evenfigure out what to do in cases like that,, he then goes to the bench and says, well I tried, He still occasionally hits a home run, but what he makes, I expect more. GO CUBS< GO MIAMI HURRICANES
  17. Still sucks, all last year and all this year he has sucked, and it is not just his lack of power but he is a defensive liability, has no baseball IQ, tries to pull everything, occassionally has a hit to right but I thosee are balls too far outside to pull. If he has tried to catch that ball at the fence he could have saved runs, he got to the fence but was off to the side, cut him, eat the salery and at least put someone out there that looks as though he cares, and if Lou won't bench him, find someone wwho will, this is just getting old. I know I will be pounded foe my remarks, but why?
  18. It doesn't matter who Lou gets, He still has Bradley, Soriano, no second baseman, Johnson or whom ever in center. Bad team, head case hitters and a manager that doesn't have players to plug in the line-up, he needs to play the younger players and let the head cases sit and brood, that is my rant.
  19. He'll show up on the cadinals staff and win 15, just watch
  20. I think the only to really worry about is DLee, the rest will be fine
  21. OK, enough lamenting about the past, I have been a fan two long to give up now and say woe is me, all of you fairweather fans go away and leave us good and loyal Cub fans to discuss hwo to fix this. Lets look at the club, Catcher--Soto-, set for years to come, He will continue to hit 20+ homers a year and catch an excellent pitching staff, but after a long season don't expect him to carry the club, his job is to catch, I really see him hitting 7th. first base- Lee, once a feared hitter, no longer, But he is a good player who will average 280 with about 20 homers a year, dont expect more, he probably has several more years to play. second base--Derosa--came into his own this year, should stay at second, will hit around the same as Lee, no more not much less. Shortstop--Theroit--A good player who will learn to get better, But will not hit for power nor will he steal many bases, He starts to break down later in the season, he is not a detriment to this team, he is an assest to this club. Third--Ramerez--the only real star we have, but he is at the top of his game, how long can he stay on top? Left--Soriano--Fun to watch, terrible defense, very streaky hitter, will probably get better both defensively and more consistently at bat, he can carry the club when he gets hot and when he is cold the club flounders. Center--We don't have a good consistent center-fielder, both of our CF this year were castoffs form other teams, needs upgrading. Right--Fukadome--got tired, confused and went down hill, But he was a star in Japan and will get better next year, pencil his for 20+ homers and a 270 plus batting average next year. Our pitchers weren't a problem so I wont critique them, although I expect one more starting pitcher to join the club, Wood to still close, and maybe Marquis, Marmol, Cedeno, Wuertz, etc to change teams, for that new starting pitcher, don't want to give up Marmol but some team will insist., maybe the Brewers
  22. Lee needs rest I posted last week that Aram and Lee needed rest. Right after that post Aram hit a couple of Hrs, but they still need rest. Lee has been just average at best, doesn't drive the ball. hits singles through the infield and if it was at someone it would be a DP. He doesn't have many extra bale hits this last month,( August). He just needs energizing, still a good player, not the star we need, also strikes out more that usual on sliders low and away. Last week we needed a fly ball or a soft grounder to second, not what he did, ground ball to third. He has played long enough to start playing team ball, not i'll try to hit a HR and ground out to third.. To all of you who jumped on me before jump again, but the team deserves more from him.
  23. yes but they the big 3 or 4 are all swinging from the heels, striking out a lot and D Lee hits into DP's, also Koske is pulling off the pitch more and more, all of them are in a collective slump, a sit on the bench to rest is in order
  24. give Marquis his release, or send him and howry to the yankees. sit Ramirez and Fonzy for a few games, both have lost the strike zone.
  25. We need several hitters that can change the outcome of a game, I know the Cubs have been trying but thus far I can't remember any hitter coming out of the cuba minor leagues that could be called an impact hitter. latest attempts are Vitters, Colvin, Dope, Harvey. Nice try.
