  1. We will never know about theriot and the rest unless they get a good chance to play. You may be right about Pie not being ready, but he may surprise, theriot may be only a platoon player but you don't have to be a star to play a good second base and hit 7th. He is playing short for Iowa, maybe cedeno can play second. It could be a good defensive infield, you never know. I think it is a excuse to say someone is not ready unless they get a try, But not under Dusty.
  2. A big reason for our collapse. Our youngsters. I am glad we have played so many but Dusty cannot handle youngsters. How many has he ruined so far and how many are failing now. B. Hill and Patterson are gone and cedeno and murton probably aren't far behind. Young pitcjing is also to blame. Hill kills them in AAA but can't pitch for dusty or rothchild, Williams, marmol, all need more instruction. I say blow up this team, get rid of the old guys so dusty can't play them and go with the youngsters I think Theriot can play second, He is hitting over 300 in Iowa, Bring up Restovitch, Bring up Pie, Trade Jones, Trade Walker, Trade Nefti, trade Pierre. Evaluate the youngsters the rest of the year and sign or trade after the season to complete the new team. Cleveland did it, The Marlins did it, we can do it.
  3. I'am not sure Murton has a lack of power, right now he has a lack of hitting. when is the last time he has even hit the outfield wall, I believe his bat is so quick that he is hitting the top part of everyball and grounding a single or hitting into double plays. I am sure that he and the coaches realize it and are working on a solution. Murtons body build reminds me of Keith Moreland, who could hit a homerun or two
  4. actually prior was close to 100 pitches, when they went to a left handed pinch hitter Desty should have gone to a left handed pitcher
  5. If we make any more trades with the florida marlins their whole starting staff will be X Cubs
  6. I believe that the Cubs were trying to survive in a draft that they only had two picks in the first 5 rounds in a bad draft class. Now several players drafted in the lower rounds will make it to the majors in 3-4 years. lets give it time, maybe one of ours
  7. I have to admit I am rooting against the Cubs for now. This season is ruined, the management sucks. We ned to keep losing to get rid of Dusty and coaches, And take Pierre with you Please, also we can stock up the minors with players we get for trading our losers to teams that need winners. Also we can restock our minors with players near the top of the list in next years Jund draft
  8. Other managers win with missing players, This manager makes excuses
  9. you have to understand, Baker is fighting for his job. We would love to have the team play lots of younger players as our season is over, But Baker doesn't care about next year, only saving his job and playing the old guys. I expect Neffi to play SS and 2nd base at the same time to sit Cedeno, and Nevin play Left. Slappy in CF and No baseball skills Jones in RF. Roush to come off the DL and start twice a week, Sit all those young pitchers on the bench and tell everyone it's their fault Baker is such a bad Manager.
  10. most of the Cub players are now free swingers, I believe that the coaches are teaching the firsst strike seen will be the best one, thid is the most impatient team I have ever seen. murton used to be patient, as was Walker, now none of them are.. IS THAT WHAT THE COACHES ARE TEACHING or all of the Cub players deciding independently that to walk is bad
  11. He has to go, this team is really bad. they don't make plays, every team runs on their outfield. we can't run the bases, we don't have any enthusium, we can't hit, we especially can't hit with RISP. we don't take BB, I dare anyone to tell me what we do well. Pierre really is bad. Walker has quit, Cedeno needs better coaching, Ramarez is in a year long slump, Jones has very little baseball skills, and as much as I like Murton, he needs to be sent to AAA. Our pitching is another story and I am not really that disapionted, Our coaches are bad, and I blame it all on Baker. He has to go. I don't care who replaces him, just do it and get rid of hald of the team. Neffi, walker, Murton, lead the list
  12. It's time to back up the truck and dump high priced (I won't say talent) players. Time for Pierre, Jones, Walker, Nevin, Perez Wood, Roush, to move on. We can move them for players in their minor leagues or players on the 40 man rosters. It is a mystery who we can talk into taking thest players, Not everyone is as lame as the Cubs management. Lets move on. I can accept losing with young players that are learning, but not with more experienced players like we are doing. We also have several players who are in our minor leagues that need to play and learn in the majors. What good is it to keep a struggling Pie in AAA when he could be moved to the big club and have better instructors and learn on the job. lets make a lost season wortwhile by bring up and playing younger players.
  13. With the success of Marmol, Marshall, and with prior coming back, with Miller in the wings, with Z and Maddox in the rotation and Young pitchers galore in the minors, Hill makes great trade bait. Add Murton to a trade and pick up a significant outfielder, power form the left side. Hill looks great now, time to pull off a trade
  14. He is so bad that three out of four atbats he can't get the ball out of the infield, you now know why the marliins were so ready to get rid of him. Time to bring up Pie to learn in the bigs, Pierre has stopped learning
  15. Have to admit it. this draft really scares me. I wonder now that 10 rounds are over if Tim Wilkins is happy with it or down deep would he like a redo. What the Cubs say is he is excellent at finding good players in the lower rounds. Hope so
  16. I think that it shows our team with a new staff for the draft that we are going in a different direction, a solid college outfielder with I think a good future ahead of him insstead of a stud pitcher, many of whom aren't around or hurt. Refreshing
  17. Just watched MLB and the cubs drafted tyler colvin from clemson
  18. it looks as though woody's shoulder won't take 6 or 7 innings without tightning up. The Cubs and Woody ned to sit down and talk about late inning relief, one or two innings two or three times a week will put less stress on his arm and I think he will be a terrific sset up man to start with and a closer later.
  19. and Iowa lefthander Tim Gudex, who signed the Cubs after posting back-to-back seasons with ERAs at 1.11 and 1.15. This is a blurb from baseball america
  20. Baseball america stated the cubs signed Tim Gudex, a fifth year senior (iowa) before the draft. Was this a draft and follow or are 5th year seniors are exempt from the draft
  21. Grant Johnson pitched the first 5 innings, he was effectivly wild, left with a 8 to 3 lead, he just wore out in the 5th, threw 89-90, hit 93 once that i saw. Layden, and Bronder were smoked. The manatees scored 5 runs in the 6th inning, but 2 of them were taken off the board when with two outs and a run scoring hit, shattered bat, Cork, end of inning. Hunton threw effectivly, He looks like Brian Dorirak. Mendez threw very well, has a power fast ball, hit 95 several times, has control too. Blevens is a skinny, side winder left hander, lost the game in the 12th. Sam Fuld looks short but can play, went 3 for 5. Spearman played third, will probably not move any higher. Jake fox, needs work behind the plate but is also a player. Craig played first, also can play Harvey played right, looked slow and Needs a lot of work. looks like a slow bat but had two hits through the left side of the infield, they walked craig to pitch to him, he flew out. Culpepper had several hits, has a quick bat, plays left. Danny Gonzalez is slow a foot but has a quick bat, hit several balls on the nose but for outs, went 0-6 Spears plays second, will never go any higher.wick was the DH, went 1-5. Was the most impressed with Fuld, Fox, Craig, Culpepper and Mendez. all in all the team plays good sound baseball, takes pitches, moves runners, needs pitching.
  22. I will not berate my Cubbies any moroe, it of obvious that the Cub brass can not or will not do anything to improve the cubs or will bot talk to dusty or the players about OBP. When you have a leadoff player that will not take walks or Jones who swings at every first pitch he sees. I am sure the players know what everyone is saying about taking pitches and if they don't they either don't care, won't listen or feel that if they get two strikes on them they have no faith they won't strike out. I can never remember the Cubs having a good OBP for years. Anyway I refuse to lose sleep or get worry headaches over this team (at least this week) I will enjoy the good and put up with every thing else. Anyone notice the pitchers that have hit home runs againgt us were their first against anyone?
  23. As of today may 21st, the cubbies have 27, A. Pujols has 21, How about that. makes you sick
  24. I can't hate this Cub team, But when they really suck, I yell I can't stand this team, But even though we get our pitchers back and D.Lee comes back I can't see how this club of just average players caan turn it around, i see a top 5 draft choice next year
  25. it's a shame our team is so sorry, we have one player with consistant power and he has a sore back. the rest of the players are average, average, average. And the transaction wire say we signed Womack to a minor league deal, I guess he is soon to be punch and jude number 8. I would suggest trading most of our position players somewhere else nut who would wan't them, average, average, average. You know it is easy to be average, average average, but it is darn hard to be this bad. If Hendry won't fire Baker, Mc'phail needs to go, actually the team needs to be bought by Steinbrenner and the whole bunch will be held accountable, but the Tribund company just doesn't care. Average
