  1. How many times have you or I watched a game and remarked, ExCub pitcher, Here is a short list of ex Cub pitchers I could compile Pitching in the majors now. Wellemeyer Maddux Lohse T Gordon Moyer Nolasco Pints Cueto Trachsel Ohman Weathers Aardsma Farnsworth Acosta Borowski I am sure the list is much longer, This is just a quick list
  2. I say this not because of today's antics, but we were winning at a higher win/loss pct while he was hurt. I know his contract is hugh, but can we trade him?, do we want to?
  3. went to the Daytona game last night, they look terrible. Harbin throws flat footed, no drive with his legs, all are. Never saw him hit 90 all night. walked the based loaded in the second and a error by Landsford llowed two in. Thomas had trouble getting around on a fastball, none that hit 90 either. Landsford had two errors and could have been charged with two more. Carter is still at Daytona, may stay there forever. No one looked as though they had the talent to move on, the game was slow, boring, no life, I guess the tone was set by harbin
  4. We still can't hit them, I have a feeling teams will bring up wrong handers from the minors to face the Cubs, yesterday and today left-handers really handcuffed us.
  5. you know it is spring training, here is a prediction. Demp will be a better starter than a closer, I believe he has learned a lot, probably win 15 with a ERA of 3.55
  6. I take a hit everytime I say something like this but Ronnie Cedeno is due to break out, he has hit at every minor league stop and hit in all of the carribean leagues, all he has to learn is to relax, he tries too hard and messes himself up Go Ronnie Go cubs
  7. no: I am not ready to give up Marmol and not ready to give up on Pie
  8. I know this has probably been discussed before but here is my two cents. Ronnie has hit well everywhere he has been except the bigs, And there is nothing that indicates he can't hit here, I know he has had several chances with the big club but pressure to succeed and letting down his team mates seem to get ahead of his talent. I know he is a throw-in in most trade proposals but he just might be our best chance to have a big league SS and that way Theriot could be a sub. Cedeno has better power potential, Is just as fast, has a better arm, covers a lot of ground and has matured more, (aged more). Lets not throw him away, just give him another shot at SS.
  9. it's fine talking about another bat but it is proven over again that pitching and defense win games, when you have Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, as the big bats, with DeRosa, Jones as lesser bats but still good, that is 5 solid bats, add defense from Blanco-Soto, Theriot, and it is not a bad team, lets say Cedeno beats out Theriot and he shows more punch, now if you can pick up a free agent or two????? Our pitching is the most important thing to protect and/or improve. Boston who has some of the most feared bats are down 3-1, beaten by pitching and defense
  10. I really believe that Sean Gallagher abd Kevin Hart will both develop a hard sinking fastball for next season. Both hae a sinker but with the hard sinker being the pitch of the playoffs, both players have the arm and are smart, And I believe both players are watching the pitching and will make every effort to develop and refine the hard sinker. We would be crying in our beer if we traded either of these pitchers and they became good starters for someone else
  11. Given Larussa's pension for having his batters throw at our players, his ability to harass the opposing pitcher, I thing "Z" will last about 4 innings before he loses his cool. Also as he stews on the mound the ump will start squeezing the plate, I notice they have started doing that more lately to "Z" , they don't want to be seen as cow-towing to a tempermential pitcher, "Z" is his own worse enemy. Go Cubs
  12. As much as I enjoy watching Matt, He just won't get enough playing time to get good, Pie, just isn't ready, and Jones isn.t a center fielder, and anyone but Jones in right. Aramis's wrist CATCHER Rich Hill's unability to go dep into games CATCHER Z's temper CATCHER. A shame as I am in my 70's and a life long Cub fan
  13. Why is Jacque still on this team?
  14. after watching the Datona game last night I believe that the only player on the team that could eventually get to the big Cubs is Colvin and it probably needs to be centerfield, Don't believe he will ever have enough power to play a corner. How about the fans form the other minor league teams, how about the players on them, any heading for the bigs?
  15. didn't see this anywhere but sisco is now pitching for the sox on WGN
  16. Was at the game last night, rained most of the night, hope the game tonight has better weather. Just a word about our outfield, all can run and Colvin looks good. see you tonight at the game
  17. as I see it, the rotation will be Z, Prior, Hill, Miller, Marquis
  18. don't know if anyone has said this or not but I remember Mike Schmidt saying he would never vote for another third baseman for the HOF. enouth said
  19. If Izturis is all that great why was L.A. trying to push his on several clubs, I'll take a hustling Theriot any day, and start him at second. he seems to have more baseball smarts that Cedeno
  20. After awile, Dusty has to admit that the Cubs play bad defense, Jones in right, murton in left, pierre can't throw, cedeno doesn't seem to have any baseball smarts, had some in the beginning but the manager and coaches seem to have taken that away, we have NO second baseman, excuse me, the RIOT plays second, with Lee out we have no first baseman. our catcher should be playing left. Our starting pitching sucks, lots of promise, no subatance, I like Hill, I like Marshall, I like Carlos. our bullpen is OK as long as you don't overwork them, I thing we have three pitchers with over 70 appearances. So with injuries and questionable leadership we are a bad team, and unless our leadership changes we will continue to be a bad team
  21. Pierre, teams just go first to third at will on ground balls hit to him, no arm at all
  22. what happened to the posts
  23. Boy, a lot of hate for Maddox. I don't think they should trade him, he is teaching our younger pitchers how to approach the game, you always see Marshall, Marmol or even Z discusing pitching with him, and he would have several more wins with several more runs. KEEP MADDOX
  24. lets trade Ramirez, Walker, J. Williams and fat Glendon to the yankees for Arod, AA third baseman eric brown and A Pitcher B villalona. We would appreciate ARod, Brown is a prospect and Villalona is a starting pitcher. We move Cedeno to 2nd base, put ARod in at SS, bring up McGehee up from iowa to play third, while a deal is made for a 3rd baseman
  25. you know he isn't going to play Theriot much, Dusty is hanging on to his job by his nails
