skip is the most boring announcer EVER!

His voice sounds just like Kermit the Frog.

I never cared for him either. He always sounds like he hasn't blown his nose in a month!

chip is horrible and i detest him

His getting replaced by Rathburn ought to put all the Chip backers into shame-induced hibernation. Rathburn is total garbage, and Torborg makes Joe Carter look good by comparison.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's not say things we can't take back...

Have you ever listened to them? Braves fans should storm the gates over this.

Len sounds like Plastic Joe Buck. He still does a good job, though.

How many great colormen are there in baseball? It seems like most of them blow. Both our radio and TV color guys are awful. Brenly is like sominex and when you actually pay attention to what he is saying, you realize just why he was a terrible manager (and the luckiest manager ever to win a WS). Len is solid and improving and Pat Hughes is one of the best, but we definitely need some serious help in the "colorman" department, but so do many other broadcast teams.

You know what colorman I really liked? (I'm sure everyone is at the edge of their seat now)...Al Leiter. I thought he was amazing during the 2003 NLCS, but maybe that's because he could barely contain his disgust at Steve Psycho Lyons.

On to this debate...I like Len and Bob just fine. Last year they were brutal, and I do prefer my color guys to have a connection to the Cubs so they sound like they want them to win, but I think they've gotten better. I do wish that if he disagrees with something that Dusty is doing he would say so. I don't want the broadcast to sound like the color guy was a poster on this board; but an occasional criticism like "I would ph for Neifi here" or something of the sort would be nice. Whats the point of having a manager who once won a WS be your color guy if he isn't going to talk about the managing at all other then to say, "that was totally the right move" over and over again.

I never got into Chip, but he had the right last name.

As for Stoney, I'm amazed that nobody has picked on his constant "advice to little leaguers." "Ya see kids, thats what you want to do, use your body to block the ball and keep it in front of you even you don't make the play cleanly." I always thought Steve was just an amusing straight man to Harry's clown act; but when he was paired with Chip, I liked him.

As for 2004...that team was difficult to watch and I thought sarcastic Steve represented my feelings well.

Outside of the voice, Skip - and the rest of the Braves crew for that matter (outside of Chip) - does a fantasic job. It's actually refreshing to listen to a broadcaster who has a sense of humor and doesn't get overly excited about a two-out, bases-empty single in the second inning of a scoreless game. He picks his moments, and in today's world of play-by-play guys who all sound the same, it's nice to hear someone with that style.

A lot of people have trouble getting past the voice, which is understandable. But he calls a great game, especially on the radio.

I liked Chip a lot more than most, and he did seem to show more enthusiasm for the team than Len, but Len > Chip.

By "the team" do you mean the Cardinals?

Len is infinitely better than Chip.

Carter > Len

At hitting Home Runs?

At being a walking crash n' burn without trying

I sort of miss him. That piece where he was interviewing someone and asked about a mutual friend, only to be told "um....Joe, he's dead" was incredible. I about died myself

He asked Jim McMahon about Pete Rozelle.

Len and Bob = solid, solid broadcasters.

Think about some of the other broadcasters, namely the ones in Pittsburgh.

Wow. . .. .here's a stirring rendition:

Pitt Guys: The pitch to ________.

(ball is hit hard. . . flies toward the OF. . . getting closer to the fence)

Pitt Guys: ummmm

(ball clears the wall)

Pitt Guys: There's a home run

(guy rounds bases)

(crickets chirping)

(fan (yeah, the lone fan) gets excited)

Pitt Guys: It's pretty in Pittsburgh.

I agree, we could have that pathetic attempt at a broadcast team that's on the south side. The Brewer's team is pretty tough to stomach as well.

You mean Uecker or the TV guys? Uecker does a pretty good job.

TV Guys, I'd love to listen to Uecker. One of the TV guys sounds like Norm from Cheers.

Haha...how great would it be to listen to just one Red Sox game, as called by George Wendt and John Ratzenberger as Norm and Cliff? Anymore than that would be pure torture, but one game would be entertaining.
