If reports are accurate, Hill will not start for Iowa tonight. He's reportedly been called up to be available for long relief for the Cubs tonight and will start Thursday night if not needed in tonight's game.

Felix grounded out to the pitcher his first AB.

Peoria down 1-0 in the 4th. SW Michigan's pitchers continue to own Peoria's batters...SW Mich's starter already has 6 K's through 3.

Yepez with 7 walks through the first four innings. Not a great prospect sign for a soft-tosser. A couple more pickoffs, though, that dude must have quite the move.

Peoria takes a 2-1 lead in the 4th. They got their 1st run on a balk by SW Michigan and then Brandon Taylor had an RBI ground rule double.

close the book on Yepez...4 IP, 2 hits, 1 run (0 earned), 7 walks, 2 K's. Sounds like he threw a ton of pitches.

Felix K's in his 2nd AB. Brandon Sing with an RBI double scoring Coats gives Iowa a 1-0 lead in the 4th.

Peoria now up 3-1 in the 6th on a 2 out RBI single by Chirinos.

What happened to Wells in theJaxx game tonight?

yeah I'm wondering that as well. He pitched 3 pretty good innings and was taken out. Hopefully he didn't get hurt...

Pignatiello came in for relief and gave up 5 runs. Jacksonville leads 5-3.

Daytona wins 10-4, thanks to a 7 run 6th. Harvey was 1 for 5, but had 3 RBI's. Jake Fox went 3 for 4, including a double and had 2 RBI's.

Wuertz has a shaky 9th, but Iowa wins 7-4. Wuertz's 9th: Single, walk, walk, force out runner at 3rd scores, K, and a groundout.

Felix was 0 for 5 today including 2 K's and 6 LOB. His BA is down to .284 :(

Peoria loses the 2nd game of the doubleheader 2-0. 2 run homer in the 7th by SW Michigan won it.

Atkins had a real good start throwing 6 innings of 5 hit ball. He only walked 1 while striking out 8. The offense was non-existant though for Peoria as they only managed 3 hits.

Jaxx down 6-3 in the 6th.

Here are some random notes from the Iowa at Nashville game tonight:

1. I guess I should start by mentioning the fact that the Nashville Sounds were gracious enough to hook NSBB up with a credential for this series!

2. The Riot did an interview and agreed to do a Q & A. Riot talks about everything from the call up to "The Riot"

3. Andy Shipman's Q & A from last year was completed. It was a very good session.

4. I talked to Aardsma and he said he's willing to do a Q & A.

5. I was also able to interview some guy named Felix.

In regards to the game, Felix was pressing somewhat at the plate, but played great defensively. In regards to his ABs, he was in front of several pitches and fouled them at the seats above the visitor's dugout. In one AB he fouled a ball off someone's drink and splashed it on them. Not to be outdone, he fouled another pitch in the same AB at the person a few rows over.

In the 1st, he made a tremendous catch. He was able to reach the warning track towards the gap, hit the wall, turn and fire a throw over second base. In a bizarre play, the ball was thrown to second, to first, then back to third for the tag on the advancing runner. In the 6th he made a running catch to his left and was able to throw a rop to first for the DP.

Brandon Sing has been going through allergy difficulties since ST. He said that these allergies bothered his eyes and made it tough to see the ball, thus lowered power numbers. His 2B for the RBI was right off the line in left and then he got plunked in his next AB. No worries, he just hammered one to the neck of the guitar in left center with the flag in CF blowing in.

Wuertz had trouble, but it was a fascinating zone in the bottom of the 9th inning. More than a few players had a rough time with the zone. I'm thinking that 10 Iowa batters K'd on the night.

Fox is now batting .345/.406 (probably a little higher)/.598/1.004.

Jaxx lost 9-3. Nice to see Moore get a pair of doubles, though.

Yepez did not have his best stuff last night to be sure. According to my informal counts, he made 83 pitches over 4 innings, with only 36 for strikes. At one point, we were joking that they should just not worry about the batter, put them all on 1st so we could pick them off instead of having to actually pitch. oh well. Jesse Estrada, thankfully, looked great in relief.

I felt bad that Mitch Atkins didn't get a win. He was spot on and looked great through his entire outing.

At least it was warmer last night than on Sunday :)

Go Chiefs!

I was wondering, do you know what pitches Mitch throws? He's certainly been impressive so far this season.

I am *so* not the person who would know this, but according to this story at scout.com, he's got a fastball, curve & change. His fastball looked to be consistently 90+ last night.

Now we just need to start generating some runs and get him some wins!
