CUBS with 4 doubles in the game so far, are 1 away from tying their season high of 5 doubles set on openning day in Cincinnati.

Sure scored a lot more runs that day though. 4 doubles and only 3 runs...should be cashing these in more.

The other 10 hits they got that day might explain some of that, no?

Indeed.

I don't have a problem with the bunt in that situation. Even if Cedeno is out, you move Pierre to third with one out and Walker who makes good contact coming up. On a day with the wind blowing in and Maddux on the mound, getting that third run is a big thing. Playing for one run like that on a day like today isn't too bad a decision.

If you have the fastest guy on the team already in scoring position I think it's time to let your #2 hitter swing away.

not true...if cedeno pops out, then either walker or ramirez need to get a hit to drive him in...when cedeno moved him over, it allowed walker to drive one to the outfield, and have pierre test the OFs arms

That's small-ball thinking. Not my style.

I'm not one to think small ball either, but with Maddux on the mound and the wind blowing in playing for one run isn't that bad a thought.

I didn't realize that Damian Miller was still with Milwaukee.

He'll be there for this year and next, if my memory is correct. I'm pretty sure he signed a 3-year contract, which seemed pretty odd at the time.

Yeah, you're basically right. I just looked it up and the Brewers hold a club option for next year, but if they decline it then Miller can use his player option, for a lesser salary.

Hey Vance, All Star balloting starts today. I started up a thread in the baseball discussions page to inform people.

Thanks. I'll get right on it.

I figured I would start the thread so we can get more people to help out this year.

Already? Man, it's way too early for people to be voting for All Stars.

Hey have they said anything about Barrett and when he'll play again? I thought I read that he was supposed to be able to play in today's game.
