So the Cubs have a pitcher on the ropes, and the next two batters decide to swing at the first pitches they see? Interesting approach. Come on Maddux.

I'm not sure if 3 doubles in the 2nd mean that the pitcher is on the ropes

Are you guys really ignoring the fact that they "got the pitcher on the ropes" in large part by swinging at his first pitch?

I'm not watching the game so I wouldn't know. Sorry, I got to Gameday just as Neifi popped up.

Not unexpected. The knock on Matty is he's been too patient, but the small zone makes it a good day to be patient. He took two balls, then got a good pitch to hit. I bet he'll do it again.

Murton? I wasn't aware there was a knock on him, he's been hitting fine. He's hardly been too patient, no matter what Cubs coaches say.

I pretty much agree, but I do think he's been a little too patient sometimes, but that shouldn't hurt him today.

Hitters with a threat to do something swung early, that doesn't excuse guys like Neifi and Blanco being overly aggressive.

Man Prince really rebounded from his slow start up there. I hear he's leading the NL in hits now? Not bad.

Perez sickens me in the lineup. He is the complete opposite of the type of hitting team we've been all year. I can't wait to see Jones hit a 2 out double only too have Perez come up and pop up to the 2B on the first pitch

QFT except the 2 out thing.

Predicting Neifi will pop out to second is like predicting Ronnie will show negative emotion if something goes wrong. Its not like this is some revelation ;)

Can I just say that the Stanley Cup commercials with Kiefer doing the voicer over is just startling and scary

Lots and lots of Kiefer voice overs on commercials now.

Yep and the Verizon one is really good. Kiefer does have a good voice

Were they good pitches to hit or not? That's all I care about.

Bush throws 14 pitches in the inning... half of them to Maddux. (Murton was the only other batter to see more than one pitch.) Still, hard to complain about a 2-run frame.

Considering they were pitches thrown by a human, I doubt they were good ones to hit for Neifi and Blanco.

Alright, 2-0!

How's Maddux looking today?

shaky first, but he is settling down.

1st was BB and 2 hits but no runs.

it's really a pleasure to watch greg maddux pitch. both the strikeouts to weeks and fielder were on high pitches neither saw on tape but maddux knew he could get away with today because of the wind.

This suggest that either of them MAY be able to hit from a machine (ie batting cage) which is simply preposterous.
