Yes it's very early and hindsight is 20 - 20 but do you think considering their 2006 contributions so far (Prior - DL, Tejada - .453/.600/1053 and Bedard 4 - 0 with 2.77 E.R.A), anyone in Orioles Management has been muttering that tired old cliche "Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make"?

That trade was never on the table.

I think you need the whole season to put that "potential trade" in focus. What if Tejada or Bedard have a Derek Lee type injury? They certainly will have off days or slumps throughout the season. And Prior is due back in another few weeks. At least give it till the All-Star break (if not the postseason) before we start delving too deeply into this.

I still don't regret the Cubs not trading Prior for Tejada. Because I have absolutely love what Cedeno has done so far. While Tejada has the name recognization, Cedeno gives the Cubs financial flexibility---if needed---to make a trade at the deadline, if needed.

Besides, Tejada is slightly overrated, due to the East Coast bias. I like a healthy Prior and Cedeno over Tejada and Bedard.

The plan was for Cedeno to play 2B, with Walker being traded. IT was never Cedeno or Tejada. It was Cedeno or Walker.

And Tejada being overrated has nothing to do with being on the East Coast, as he won his MVP in Oakland.

Too bad Tejeda is guy the Cubs will need at the deadline.

He is still 25 yrs old, and I am willing to be patient with Prior.

I was one of the few folks advocating this trade. I wish Baltimore would have jumped on it.

How much of Bedard's success can be attributed to Mazzone's presence though?

Nothing at all. He was a lights out pitcher last year before he got hurt. he has always had the stuff to be dominant.

Wasn't it cabera instead of bedard?

It was actually Prior for Tejada straight up. The rumor is that Hendry asked for Bedard along with Tejada and Baltimore balked, justifiably as it turned out.

That's how I remember it and seems to be accurate from what I've read on Oriole forums as well. When Hendry called about Tejada, the Orioles expressed interest in Prior. Hendry said to give up Prior he'd need a pitcher in return, such as Bedard.

Which was a very smart move by Hendry BTW.
