Is there anyway we can start this game an hour early. Cause I don't want to wait another 80 minutes for the game to start. I'm itching to watch my Cubbies win.

I guess WGN is reporting that Weurtz is sent down and Novoa is back up.

Makes sense. Novoa would be able to give them more innings than Aardsma and a move was desperately needed, regardless of Wuertz's outing last night.

I'm just hoping that out starters start to go deeper in games. I'm worried about our Pen being burned out by June!

that's going to be tough with dusty's itchy trigger finger with marshall, and rusch + williams. maddux doesn't exactly throw complete games every other start anymore either. once again it's all on carlos.

Pretty much what you'd expect: inconsistent, but overall decent.

I know it's a lefty, but how do you bench Walker after yesterday's game?

he's a clubhouse cancer. he's lucky to be playing at all!

I have to eat crow so far this year because I was one of "those people" who said to trade Walker because we need better defense. Shows how much this arm-chair GM knows.... :x

I didn't want to re-sign Dempster to close. :-$

J. Pierre cf

J. Hairston Jr. 2b

D. Lee 1b

A. Ramirez 3b

M. Barrett c

A. Pagan rf

M. Murton lf

R. Cedeno ss

J. Williams p

Not to upset about Walker not playing... he'll still get most of the starts.

While I don't like Walker playing only once in four games, it pretty much looks like Dusty is going with a platoon of Hairston vs lefties and Walker vs righties with a sprinkling of Perez when they feel they need a more defense.

I would switch Murton and Pagan in the order, but that's just me.

how has pittsburgh played 12 games, and the cubs only 9?

I'll take it. I figure that the Cubs will have more talent as the season improves. They'll make trades and have a stronger roster in the second half of the season. That doesn't even include all the injured starters coming back.

Walker was 4-5 yesterday... better bench him today.

I'm the biggest TWalk fan in the world, and I have no problem with sitting him vs. lefties.

His flukish 2005 aside (don't even look at 04, not nearly enough ABs vs. LHP to conclude anything), Walker has been pretty bad against lefties throughout his career.

Is it possible that at 32, Walk suddenly figured out how to hit lefties? I suppose, but I doubt it and would sooner attribute his 2005 line vs. lhp to luck.

Straight platoon is fine with me.

I'd put Murton in front of Pagan, but otherwise it's a good lineup. Hairston starting is okay with me as long as Walker starts against some LHP.

Could it be that Dusty is just trying really hard this year not to move the lineup order around too much? I haven't been able to come up with any other reason as to why Pagan bats in Jones' spot.

yep same here. Walker will still get most of the starts, but Hairston will also get his share against lefties. I have no problem with the platoon at 2nd between Walker and Hairston.

I also don't have a problem with a platoon, in general. But when Todd is swinging as good of a bat as he is, I want him in the lineup.

Thats why I think we should carry an extra pitcher, as proposed in a thread in Baseball Discussions. That way we have an extra arm to go to until we get our pitchers going deeper in games.
