Ramirez was awesome his rookie year for the Pirates. He got in a fight with a pitcher his second year and played hurt the whole season. His numbers went down. He got traded to the Cubs and became awesome again. Someone please correct me if I have the chronology wrong.

Probably has a lot to do with his 2002, when he had an iffy year and there was a perception that he was lazy. It's stupid, though, it's not like he chose to depart.

I never really figured out the justification, either, but I think it's that fans thought he was a lazy slob who never fulfilled his potential with Pittsburgh. It wasn't like he flipped the bird to the fans on the way out or anything, but yeah.
