Cubs.com notes that Ramirez came out after the eighth because of soreness in his "glut."

This is not an anatomical word; it's used in "the Braves have a glut of outfield prospects." So what exactly is being said?

Do they mean glute (as in gluteus maximus) or gut?

Given his injury history I'm guessing the former. Plus, I would think it's a lot harder to strain one's gut...

from chicagosports.com:

Third baseman Aramis Ramirez, who has missed parts of the last two seasons with strained leg muscles, left the game after he strained an upper hamstring while swinging at a pitch.

"It's the first time it has happened to me on a swing," he said. "It's OK."

edit:

oh...and this:

Ramirez said he might be able to play Wednesday, but if he doesn't, Neifi Perez probably would start in his place. Angel Pagan is expected to get his first Cubs start in right field in place of Jones.

Every year, he has leg injuries. This year they were to have someone keeping a closer eye on him during his off-season workout program and nothing changes. He still looks like he needs better conditioning and then this, it's frustrating that at such a demanding everyday position that his conditioning comes into question again. He's still young and w/the Cubs does not have the luxury of leg problems turning him into a 1B.

i'm also really annoyed by how cold he looks out there. when he gets into the box, it looks like he just can't wait to get out so he can go back to the dugout and get warm. i know he's not from a country where he had to experience many 40 degree days, but, come on, it's not like this is his first spring in the midwest.

I was at a game this afternoon and had a Winter coat on. It was about 60 degrees, but very windy.

If he goes 3 for 4 again, I could give a s*&t where he bats.

Yeah and if he goes 3 for 4 every day then screw Ted Williams...

Ted's the only man colder than Aramis Ramirez.

You probably had your baseball glove, too. :D

So expect a line-up that includes Neifi, Pagan and Hairston tomorrow. Will the wind be blowing in?

Hopefully raining real hard too.

I thought the whole idea of Mabry is that he could cover Ramirez in times like this?

Usually, Mabry would probably get the start, but there's a lefty on the mound tomorrow.

Dude can still take a pitch though.

Is this is the first official Dusty give up lineup of the year?

Sounds more like the first indication of why this isn't a playoff team.

Correction: the first indication was probably watching Rusch get beaten into the ground because Prior and/or Wood are on the DL.
