Bakes on Jones' slump:

"It's like fishing -- you got to get that first one in the boat," Baker said. "Once you get that first one, the skunk is off the boat and everything's cool from then on. You've got to get that first one. Once he gets the first one, I know he'll be fine."

They keep mentioning that Ponson's only had one winning year. I'm waiting for them to explain that Wins are the most important stat for pitchers...I know it's coming

Marshall is straight money. Made one bad pitch and has not flinched. I'm telling ya, keep the brooms ready.

And yes, Jacque Jones "KP" is a tribute to the death of a great player which I feel should be immune to bad jokes but maybe it is just me.

Great player, sure, but great man, no. Thus, no immunity from good jokes.

I am familiar with the reality of Kirby off the field. But Jacque is just being a good guy trying to honor the man for his achievements between the chalk.

It's all good. I know Jacque has to produce on the field otherwise he will get heat here. I'm just hoping it happens.

I'm pretty happy-go-lucky, don't take me too serious now!

I don't know if you're joking, or if he really said that.

It's hard to tell, isn't it?

That's from Cubs.com.

I would like to see Jacque honor Kirby by actually getting a hit.

If anybody knows about getting that first one in the boat, it's Baker.

Jacque Jones needs a slump buster.

I won't say another word so anyone who gets that, I respect you. :D

It's times like these a guy like Mark Grace or Kyle Farnsworth comes in handy.

I would hope most here would get that!!! And I loved him as a player, but he's wearing thin on me as an analyst.

That thread has faded into oblivian.

Marshall is looking good. If he was an established pitcher, he probably would have gotten a couple of those close calls in the first inning and the score would be 0-0. But he didn't and hasn't been fazed at all. I like the composure. I'm guessing that Z would have plunked Edmonds if the same sequence of events happened while he was pitching.
