The hookers from Risky Business?

No problem BigBadB. 2nd time was a charm.

I think you leave him in there vs. Encarnacion, who hasn't hit anything all year. No way does Marshall face Pujols in that situation, either way. Give a groundball pitcher the chance to get a groundball. And I don't even mind putting Wuertz in. I'd rather throw him out there than to waste Williamson or Howry that early in the game.

Why wouldn't you want to put your best pitchers in there in the toughest situations? Just because it's early?

Because it's early. Because they have appeared a combined 6 times in 4 games already. Because Ponson is a below average pitcher who the Cubs should be able to score against, again. Because, regardless of this being the Cardinals, this is not a big game, not big enough to throw a reliever for the 3rd straight day if you don't have to.

Probably only one more inning for fatty if we don't swing at the first pitches like idiots. Edited by Fro

I should shut up now. It only took me three pages of this thread to get out what I was trying to say.

As long as Ponson is in there we have a chance. And the Cards pen isn't as good this year. We just need to focus on not allowing any more runs.

Should have left the kid in there to finish the inning. What a moron.

Sorry not buying that. Say Marshall remains in the game and gives up the long ball? Then it's "stupid Baker why leave the rookie in the game?"

The manger is damned either way. He leaves the starter in too long or pulls them too soon? It's all so subjective. Nobody has a crystal ball.

The manager certainly isn't damned either way.

The fact of the matter is that leaving Marshall in gave us a better chance to get out of it. You're acting as if the only choices were to let Wuertz let two in or Marshall give up the longball. With Marshall being an extreme groundball pitcher, there was more than a decent chance that he could've kept anything from happening at all.

Nah sorry but the manager is always damned if he does, damned if he doesn't on any given decision. The manager makes a call and it is up the the player to execute. A manager can make the perfect move in the perfect situation and it does not work out. And he can make the worst move in the worst situation but if it works, most people don't complain.

If you don't understand that then you haven't watched enough baseball over the years.

Not really. I responded to your first one. My response was right before your 2nd time.

Not true.

Yeah, I hate those pesky three run homers. You've got to earn it.

Williams should be able to retire the bottom of the order. A 1-2-3 inning would be nice, because it would keep Ponson in for the 3rd time vs. the heart of the order.

Not true.

If no one got on base, The Cubs would've had 1 run... But this year they are getting on base.

i had no problem w/ taking marshall out, but the 'i've watched more baseball than you' argument is weak, weak, weak.
