Brewers announcers are excited about the season and seem confident that their team can make the playoffs.

1B for Cirillo

1st and 3rd with two out.

Corey Hart coming up.

Is he wearing his sunglasses?

Still day time in Arizona.

So when I'm in Arizona, I get to see Maddux and Rusch. And after I leave, Hill, Guzman and Marshall are pitching. Grr...

I'd try a different travel agent next time.

Yeah , i hate seeing hall of famers like maddux, compared to guys who may or may not make it in the big leagues. Coach L

Well, I've seen Maddux pitch a few times before in my life - I'd have much preferred seeing some of the potential 5th starters and favorite prospects of mine since I've never seen them pitch live. Also, Maddux isn't exactly at the HOF-level that he was during his prime, and Rusch is just awful.

Quick question. How'd Marshall do today?

Marshall pitched 3 innings, 1 BB, 2 H, 2 SO, 0 R

He's yet to give up a run this Spring.

And one of those 2 hits was a bunt!

That depends on how you measure it, best available or soon-to-be-available arm, best prospect or best stuff/potential.

Pawelek is unquestionably the best prospect in the system right now where Gallagher (last year's surprise now in AA) and Veal (now in Adv-A). At that level of A Cubs have a wealth of arms which will shake out some this year.

At the AAA or AA best available or soon-to-be-available Guzman has the best stuff, little doubt but can he pitch. Marshall has supplanted Hill on the projected depth chart but going into camp Ryu was the quiet dark horse and still has very good stuff.

On top of Williams Cubs have five bona fide available or S-T-B arms and if Williams and Rusch continue to struggle Cubs could possibly go north with Zambrano, Maddux, Guzman, Rusch, and Ryu or Marshall for the April 15th and April 25th start.

Why not if they are commanding performance.

Hey, I flew down and saw Rusch and Williams... not exactly what I had in mind.

Though I did see Pie hit a couple of triples.

Hardy

0-0 changeup misses outside

1-0 takes

1-1 protective swing (up and in) dribbles to TWalk.

throw to Cedeno gets one and walker pulls his foot off the bag (had him otherwise).

1 down. hardy on 1st.

Bring in Lee!

Walker displaying his fine defense...

i hope you're kidding. he made a good play on the grounder, threw to 2nd, and got back to the bag. not an easy play for anybody, let alone a guy who hasn't played much first. oh, and it looked like his foot was on the bag. not to mention the fact that the pitcher should have been over there. walker also hit a warning track flyball...his second one of those in as many games.

marshall looked good...got ahead of almost everybody. had a couple knee buckling curves. hill, guzman, and marshall have all looked worlds better than rusch did on saturday.
