Why are the teams called Tampa "Bay" anyway? The city is called Tampa.

The stadium they play in is in St. Petersburg, but it's not like the stadium is in the middle of the water.

Agreed. Just about all the expansion teams of the late 80's through the 90's had terrible color schemes... Lots of teal/turquoise. Hornets, Magic, Panthers, Jaguars, Marlins, Devil Rays... even the Diamondbacks colors suck.

Fervently disagree with the Panthers indictment :wink: Give me Carolina's uniforms over Cleveland's, Arizona's, Tennessee's, Cincinnati's, Seattle's...(I'll stop now).

I knew I was forgetting some. I agree. The Rockies did OK. The black and purple is pretty sweet. But the Grizzlies and Raptors (yes, I know, similar to Rockies colors... they just don't pull it off, I guess) both belong in teh "suck" group.

Agree on the Raptors. They have a bit of pink in their colors too, and that really doesn't work for me. And the name "Raptors" always seemed like such a rip off of the Jurassic Park craze. I think they were created between the releases of the first and second movies...

I believe Zambrano was called "Cacique" at one point (by Dusty or something). It was done as a tribute to him back when I joined. I really need to change it though. I've never really liked it that much.

Yes, there's a need for drastic change in Tampa. And a name change isn't it.

 

But by all means: worry about what the team is named instead of who plays and manages the games. The Yankees and BoSox absolutely adore this franchise. :wink:

Yeah it means 'boss' in Spanish. But boss like mob-boss. They would run the territory and fix elections and in return were given lots of payoffs.
