Decent first half for the Hoosiers. After a poor start, they turned it up and have a 1 point lead. Grest job by Wilmont and Strickland in the 1st half pacing the Hoosiers.

I wouldn't be shocked if Dials and Marco lose some self-control in the 2nd half.

Attention Billy Packer: Having 60% of your alotted fouls when the game is around 60% over is not huge foul trouble. It's not shocking for them to remain in the game, especially when they are attacking against and defending against someone in the exact same situation.

Am I ever glad IU didn't beat OSU. You would be hearing 24 hours of Steve Alfords present team vs. His possible future team.

Tough Loss for IU. They played poorly, but with a lot of heart. Hopefully Vaden will be ok for next weekend. IU is looking at an 8/9 seed I think.

Funny thing...If Ohio State wins and gets a 1 seed, then IU will have to be put in Villinoiva's bracket is we are indeed a 8/9. You are not able to play a team you faced in the regular season on the 1st weekend if it is at all avoidable, and the Hoosiers have played Uconn, Duke, and OSU this year.

Since Iowa is going to beat OSU anyway why am I having this discussion. I'm sorry I will take my black and gold sunglasses off.

Like I said no matter what OSU does they are not getting a #1 seed.

But they are going on probation. Does anyone know what the penalties are?

Not really much. They have to take there '99 final four appearance banner down. Scholorship's are going to be reduced. I think that's it.

That's not bad at all. I heard the players have to drive Chevy Blazers instead of Lincoln Navagators as one of the punishments too.

OSU is not getting a number 1 seed no matter what.

If Texas loses tomorrow, I think it's a very real possibility.

I think OSU deserves it more than Texas if OSU wins tomorrow, regardless of the Big XII outcome.

this is what I am talking about - playing every day ruins the competition.

The article gave plenty of other reasons why the scoring has been down.

I guess I just don't understand your argument. This is the way major conference tournaments have been for as long as I can remember. Every major conference tournament plays their games on consecutive days. That doesn't mean all of them are ugly. This year the games haven't been pretty but there are a variety of reasons for that.

when games are more physical, as they are in the Big Ten, more time is needed to recover. If you watch the games, the teams are clearly fatigued and that is a big part of the ugliness.

That's exactly what happened a few years ago. During Davis' first year (when he was interim coach) Alford was considered the next likely IU coach, and IU played Iowa in the championship game of the Big Ten tournament (Iowa won). It almost turned out to be deja vu all over again, as Yogi would say.

Come on, the Big Ten isn't THAT much more physical than the Big East, Big 12 and ACC that you need that much more time to recover. It's simply not rare and I don't think it's a big deal.

College kids are more than capable of playing 3 games in 3 days. They play 3 games in a day sometimes in high school in AAU tournaments. When they play professionally they'll have to play 3 games in 3 days. In past Big Ten tournaments there have been some great high-scoring games in the semi's and finals. This year there isn't, but there are a lot of reasons for that.

Yep with 5 minutes left, Packer said it was "the most important 5 minutes in the history of these two programs" for what it would mean with the coaching situation.

Then during the trophy presentation he asked Alford if he was planning on taking the IU job. Nice tact Billy.

If Iowa wins we will hear that same exact question. CBS just needs to fire this guy. He picks the team he wants to win and researches them but finds out nothing about the other team.
