Guess what guys....you can put down any sharp instruments, cause I'm not reporting anything, I'm just saying....this won't be concluded over the CHRISTMAS holiday. So, enjoy the weekend, drink whatever "beverage" you like, and hope to heck you have a hangover from heck by Tuesday....JUST IN CASE.

Nothing's going to happen between now and Monday.

Actually the Daily Herald one is really good news.

It says the deal is not anywhere close on either side, and that although they like Prior, they don't think we're giving up enough, and we don't think they're giving up enough.

Yeah. And like when I said, "While not indicating a deal is close, neither (article) seem to think Prior is untouchable at all", the part about Prior not being untouchable is what scares me.

I wouldn't trade Prior for hardly anybody.

Amen. The trade proposal even from the Cubs side has Brock-for-Broglio written all over it. The O's version is worse. This is bizarre. What I don't get is why the Cubs would consider moving Prior. If he were a FA a year from now I could almost see the logic of a trade now, but he's not.

Here's a complete hypothetical (it would never happen from the Phils side) but what if the Cubs could move Prior, Hill, CPatt + cash for Abreu and Ryan Madson ... is that better than the Miggy deal?

I have the feeling Prior is gonna break out this season....maybe not another 2003, but a great season. Then they won't think of trading him so easily.

I agree and think that all Prior needs to do is avoid injury to do that.

If he makes 30+ starts, he should contend for the NL Cy Young, along with Zambrano.

p.s.- I understand that staying healthy and getting run support are both big ifs for these fellas to compete for a Cy.

Agreed. The thought of him dominating in uniforms other than the Cubs' make me sick.

Hendry dancing around questions like usual. He says a bunch, but doesn't ever give anything of substance.

It's good to hear him talk about Murton and Cedeno. Sounds like he has faith in them starting everyday. Hopefully he's expressed those feelings to his manager...

He can't talk about the proposed trade, it's tampering.

He definitely COULD say that we're not trading Prior (or Z, for that matter) which is all I really wanted to hear him say.

But he didn't.

- Looking to the future (odd, considering he may be willing to part with Prior)

- He is not shopping players

- Murton and Cedeno integral parts, will be regular players

- "I don't know if any trades are going to be made by us the rest of the winter"

- Does not want to part with Pie

- Cedeno's name has been brought up in every trade conversation since last July

- Mentioned Jones, Pierre, Murton, Cedeno as 4 new players out of 8 on the field (is Walker staying and starting or am I reading too much into this statement?)

- Nothing to put Prior rumors to bed

- Doesn't feel any deals are imminient

It almost sounded like a pre-emptive plea to the players that when/if someone is dealt, that it was in his perception of what was in the best interest of the team.

COMPLETELY unrelated - but CPatterson, I love that clip of that INCREDIBLE dunk in your sig. Mostly because I HATE Duke in general, and JJ Redick in particular. Man, what a prick.

Alright, I'm done.

That was a glorious day, knocking Duke out of the tournament and that dunk being in it. I wish I could find it from the other camera angle, because it really shows how much Ager let Redick have it. Oh well, happy to be of service. :D

Exactly. All I want to hear is that he won't trade Prior. He said that when the Prior/Abreu rumors were going around. He's not saying that here. That scares the crap out of me.

Says he doesn't feel anything imminent at this moment. Doesn't get up in the morning to shop guys that he wants to keep, but sometimes things come your way.

Crap. Crap. Crap.

I think his non statement said more than anything he said. This is really sad. Instead of firing the manager that can't handle pitchers or play young players, you're going to trade one of the pitchers he can't handle to aquire a player to fill a role that could be easily filled by one of the young players.

It's like some sort of idiot bizarro logic.
