Would Santa still be angry if Prior and others brought us Manny and Tejada?

Watch Baltimore flip Prior and get Manny and Martz.

If Hendry is so dead set on getting rid of Prior, then they should deal him to Boston for Manny and Arroyo.

But having said that, I think whoever has Hendry's cell phone service should shut off his phone for a couple weeks, and cancel his email, too. Make him unreachable. Keep him away from phones, if he's going to shop Prior.

Maybe he is trying to Dusty Proof the team, but I just cannot believe he'd weaken the biggest strength on the team just because he's afraid Baker won't play Cedeno AND Murton. If this was such a problem, then why be an idiot and sign Perez, just to end up having to deal your 24 year old ace starter because your manager is bloody stupid?

If he's panicking because he hasn't really improved the offense, then why weaken the strength you have left to do so?

It doesn't make sense. There's no rational reason to be shopping Prior for anything less than a top 5 player in baseball.

Maybe Hendry can spin his magic and get BOTH Manny and Tejada.........Hmmm?

That aint magic thats fairy dust.

[fat joke] I thought it was powdered sugar. [/fat joke]

The money isn't there for both Manny and Tejada. Hell, the money isn't there for Manny. Not to mention we'd have to give up a lot more than Prior to get both of them.

Hendry has no, nor ever has had, any magic, IMO.

Hendry never makes moves for big stars, but we can't disregard getting Lee and ARam for basically nothing. These all or nothing arguments are pure overstatement.

Per Rotoworld:

Chicago Cubs SS Miguel Tejada went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk yesterday in his DWL debut.

He was the DH for the Aguilas Cibaenas. Tejada wasn't expected to play winter ball this year, but he wanted to get ready for the WBC in March. Dec. 23 - 3:41 pm et

Just was wondering if anyone can tell whether or not, ESPN just decided to run with this story from FOX Sports.com, or has the talks between the Cubs and O's intensified? If there getting close to making a deal, I hope the Cubs get cold feet. I can't think of anyone else that I would like to have on the Cubs, than Miguel Tejada (and that includes Manny or Abreau)...but having said that, there is NO way that I would trade Mark Prior for anyone!

And this why everyone says Cubs fans are yuppy, kool-aid drinking, bracelet-wearing pretty boys who don't know anything about baseball.

Get that BS out of here dude. A lot of fans have players they would not like to see traded. There are not many people I would trade Prior for.

In saying that you would not trade Mark Prior for ANYONE, you're saying that he's the most valuable player in all of baseball. I think that's a little over-the-top.

And that's uncalled for.

Or it could be saying that he's his favorite player. You may not agree with the statement, but I believe your response was more over the top than what he said.

If you dial back to 2003, I'd be willing to guess that you'd find more than one GM who would have picked Prior over any other player in baseball to build a team around. His injuries the past couple years have tarnished that image a bit, but it is still not a completely indefensible position.

I'd go with Pujols, Cabrera and probably a few other guys first. But Santana is probably the only pitcher I'd take before Prior when considering ceiling, years under control, age, etc.

Is it possible to get a new thread with actual new developments in the Tejeda trade proposal? This thread is getting a little long to sift through for little information. :D

BTW is the rumored trade still Prior, Hill, Patterson for Tejeda and Bedard?

On the 6:30 pm update on the Score(I know its the score), they claimed that their sources with the Cubs say that the Cubs have not talked to the Orioles in several days about a trade for Tejeda...however, they do remain very interested in acquiring the SS. Wierd..

Well, after the off season so far Hendry should be praying.

This is starting to sound like the whole Pierre trade over again. Except, I hope this time the teams are really not talking.

---Hmm, what are you doing, reading between the lines or something? Where did I imply that Prior is the most valuable player in all of baseball?

Maybe, I shouldn't have used the word "anyone" but the whole point in my post in the first place, was that I don't care how much I'd like to see Tejada on the Cubs, I wouldn't trade a pitcher that has so much upside like Mark Prior. Trying to replace someone like Prior would be extremely difficult troll. Oh, and incidently, you know nothing about me as a Cub fan--anytime you want to go toe to toe and talk baseball, I'm ready. It will be no contest.

I sure hope this is accurate.

Didn't see this mentioned yet, but FOXsports.com is reporting the Cubs, O's, and A's are working on a three way deal that would net the O's Zito and Prior, Cubs would get Bedard and Tejeda and the A's would get a ton of prospects (presumably Hill, Patterson, and O's prospects). That trade would be utterly ridiculous from the Cubs standpoint. I'm starting to think Hendry might not have a clue what he is doing anymore.

FoxSports is not very reliable, and we are talking about a business that is very unreliable as a whole. I really doubt that FoxSports has the specifics of any trade proposal that might exist at this point.

Oh yes...that's what I'd been waiting for. C'mon no trade. C'mon....

Did you read the article? It was from a Baltimore Sun sports writer and quoted an O's front office member. Sure Foxsports may not be reliable, but this is starting to sound like a complete mess from the Cubs standpoint.

It's the exact same article in the Baltimoresun from this morning. I panicked for a second too.
