No idea where the old thread is, and since the search feature is not available, time to start a new one so that all college FB discussion doesn't have to get dumped into the most recent week of college action.

Penn State got a commitment this weekend from the #13 OLB prospect in the country (4 stars, according to Rivals.com). It's a pretty big pickup because he had been verbally committed to LSU. They also recently received a commitment from the #11 ILB in the country, another 4 star prospect. A 3 star running back from PA committed last week, so Penn State now has 11 commitments.

A big announcement next week will come from the #3 DT in the country, who is down to Georgia, Florida and Penn State. And, the #4 OG, the #2 OT and the #1 CB in the country all have PSU among their top 2-3, so those will be big announcements as well. I especially hope PSU gets the offensively linemen, because the improvement of the OL was one of the main reasons the team did so well this year. A lot of the guys who played well this year are juniors and seniors, so they really need to get some good OL prospects to keep it going.

Tim Tebow, arguably the most sought after QB recruit committed to FL yesterday.

Mustain officially decommitted from Arkansas this week, interesting situation there. Arkansas hired Mustain's HS school to come coach him at Arkansas, and to make room they fired the QB coach, who was one of the reasons Mustain wanted to go there, and the reason he cited for his decommit--although it was more than likely because Cutcliffe went to UT.

Maybe he just realized that Arkansas' football team sucks. Why would any big-time recruit want to play for them?

That is what I didn't get, all I can think of is that he is from Arkansas.

Arkansas has been on him for a long time, If I remember right, most of Arkansas top recruits have gotten out of state recently, so there has been a big push to keep this guy in state.

For OU, we just got a RB, Chris Brown, out of Louisiana, he should be a pretty good one by the the time he sees the field. We grabbed at least one, maybe two JUCO Olinemen (thank god) and we signed a JUCO QB who has 3 years left to either back-up or push Bomar, depending which side of that debate youre on.

We're also in on Jermaine Gresham, one of the top 2 or 3TE's in the country, though from what I hear, he's pretty soft and doesnt block, so he may end up being a big, slow wide receiver.

I'm more excited about Gerald Mccoy, who is the No. 1 DT in the nation, and is out of OK. I know USC and LSU are really pushing on him hard, but I think he stays in state. That would be two consecutive years of getting the No. 1 DT in the nation. Having him and Granger lining up at DT for a few years would be borderline cheating.

Also, we're in on Demarco Murray, who you guys probably know about. A RB in the mold of Reggie Bush, it's down to us and USC, though I'd put it at about 90% that he ends up a Trojan. I would love to see him in our backfield next year though.

Wow, I just read that USC switched, and with all the RB's considering them (8, if I remember correctly, now that Goodsen decommitted from OSU), and they are recruiting Murray as a cornerback. If this is true, I have to think OU is the favorite for him.

Agreed.... he very much sees himself as a RB and not a CB. If USC tells him that he's not likely to play RB there, then I think he will be in Norman next year.

PSU got a big pickup today... DT Jared Odrick from Pennsylvania committed. 5 star recruit, 6'5, 300 lbs, supposed to be very quick for his size. I guess he had been pretty close to committing to UGA but decided to stay close to home.

Notre Dame's class is ranked #4 at the moment with 11 4-5 star players in the fold. Previous year's rankings have been as follows:

2005- 40th

2004- 32nd

2003- 12th

2002- 24th

What a difference Coach Weis is making on and off the field. Of course I'm biased, but given his coaching ability, the strong young group of current players at ND, and a great start recruiting, I can't imagine ND not being a major national power for several years to come. Looks like the "return to glory" promised by Ty Willingham may actually be realized under Coach Weis.

Breakdown of ND recruits in the top 15 in the nation at their position:

#4 RB

#2 dual threat QB

#6 pro-style QB

#4 FB

#10 OT

#8 OG

#3 C

#9 DE

#14 ILB

#14 OLB

#3 CB

#14 CB

#12 K

Overall, looks like one heck of a class with more verbals to come.

No love for Konrad Reuland?

Weis is recruiting unlike anyone during the Davieham era did. I have been thoroughly impressed with his efforts.

#2 TE, Konrad Reuland!!

Also wanted to point out that Aldridge is enrolled for the spring semester, enabling ND to put him on this years scholorship list; leaving another spot for the fall class.

I was gonna say, if you folks don't think highly of him...I'd love to see him replace Marcedes.

I will be more than happy to see him wearing an Irish uniform. Does he go to HS near where you live?

He's from the OC, same HS as a couple of Bruins and one of their recruits.

Looks like Long Beach Poly WR Terrence Austin will probably come down to ND and UCLA (though he did visit Arizona and Oregon). He should decide in January.

This is the best Notre Dame class since the one Lou brought in after the 1989 season. That class won more games than any other in Irish history and capped it off with an 11-1 season that should have ended in a national title.

Let's just say I try not to think about 2006-09 because I get too excited.

I remember back when Notre Dame sucked, I actually felt a little bad for them. It's harder to hate a team that sucks like that.

Now Notre Dame is good again, and I really wish they would go back to sucking.

Mizzou landed a 4-star WR this evening, he'll make a nice replacement for Coffey. Doesn't look to be a star-studded class, but at least the commits are at places of need. Next year's basketball class looks to be pretty solid too, I'm optimistic about next year for both major sports.

In a big surprise the #5 RB Carlos Brown committed to Michigan. Why he came to Michigan is perplexing. He will be behind and have to compete against both Hart and Grady for 2-3 year. My friends and i have no idea why we wants to be a wolverine.

Kansas State swooped in and got Freeman (QB) to switch from Nebraska. Ron Prince is doing a helluva job since taking over for Snyder. Starting to look like a pretty good class coming our way!

Because he's an awesome kid.

Mustain has narrowed it down to ND, Tennesse, Bama, and Arkansas.

EDIT: So this whole Mustain thing could be bad for ND, if he chooses he wants to go there. Weis has already said that the is only taking 2 QBs, and he already has those, although neither one is on the same level as Mustain. I know that ND has not yet offered him a scholarship, but if they do, one of the QBs could lose their spot, which would look bad for ND, IMO. I really don't know what is better, pass up on a top 3 recruit, or revoke a scholarship. I think I would rather see Weis pass on Mustain, and keep his commitments to the other young men who agreed to come to ND, long before Mustain entered the picture. Of course if one of the other QBs (Jones) will move to WR then all is OK :D
