I think that Jim Hendry should see if Omar Vizquel is available. He would be the perfect guy to bat 2nd behind Pierre. Last year he had an AVG. of .285ish an OBP. of .335ish and had 24 SB. He also led the majors in sacrifices, so he moves the runner along. He does not strike out a lot and we all no how good his glove is. I like Walker but he is not as good a 2 hitter as Vizquel. If we got Huff or a decent power bat in RF this move would work real well. I understand that he is old but you could put him at SS and Cedeno at 2nd. I think a trade of Walker and Wllemeyer could get Omar. Maybe throw in another prospect if they want. If we got Visquell and Huff this would be a very good lineup.

I don't have time to run all the numbers, but Walker had a .355 OBP last year. How is a guy w/ a .335 OBP a better fit in the 2-hole? Don't we want as many guys on base for DLee and ARam as possible? I don't see the point of giving up Walker (who I think is a better hitter) and Welly and a prospect for Omar. Especially since we have Cedeno at short and if we're going to trade Walker we should do it to improve the team (SP, RF) not hurt the team.

You're right, he's better.

Got a hole in RF?

Trade your 2nd baseman for a SS. That should fix that hole in RF.

My apologies for the sarcasm. The black hole in RF has been there too long this offseason to continue ignoring.

It's really sad too, because I for one have no faith that Hendry is going to sufficiently fill the hole. The longer this offseason goes on, the more depressing it gets.

why are so many people against giving cedeno a chance to show what he can do? he performed well until he got hurt a year ago and has a great glove. why go acquire a late-30s SS who may hit only 10-15 pts higher than what you already have and further stunt the development a pretty good looking young SS?

furcal was a known quantity and probably will have a significantly better 06 than walker so getting him made sense considering you could move cedeno to 2B and not give up anything. i don't want lugo, vizquel or any other second-rate SS. let's roll with cedeno and walker and see what happens.
