Ill say it again, I hope Kyle goes to the sidelines and watches what is happening in the game. Kyle has talent, and I think this can only help him in getting better.

LOL, anyone remember byebyesammy/byebyecorey/byebyekerry from the ESPN boards?

He is also a Grossman hater (surprise) and insists that Orton would have done just as well as Rex did. He attributes the difference in performance to the game situation... LMAO

I never was a Grossman hater, but I was an Orton apologist. I'm fully admitting I was wrong now though...

I can't blame you.. Switching the QB with a 9-4 record is a tough call. But I think this was definitely one of those rare exceptions where the change was justified.

I supported KO as soon as Rex went down, but with all the hard work Rex put in to rehabbing, and the fact that Orton didn't really take control of the job, I wanted Rex in as soon as he was ready.

I'm bustin right now... bustin!

Lovie being interviewed on Comcast right now. Wouldnt say that Gman is starting next week, but I think its pretty obvious that Grossman is the starting Qb vs the Pack.

(any way we psuedo-clinched a playoff spot tonight??)

Ok, so WORST we can do is 10-6 for the year and not win the division.

Current NFC seeds;

1 SEA 12-2

2 CHI 10-4

3 NYG 10-4

4 CAR 10-4

5 TB 9-5

t6 ATL 8-6

t6 WAS 8-6

t6 DAL 8-6

Ok, we have the obvious tiebreak on ATL. WAS would have the tiebreak on us. I'm betting we'd have some sort of tiebreak on DAL if came down to it.

WAS' final 2 are vs NYG and @ PHI. Hard, but possible, for them to go 10-6. DAL's final 2 are @ CAR and vs STL. I see 1-1 there for the 'Boys.

So basically, root for the NYG to win next Saturday so that clinches the Bears a playoff spot. [and then watch as the Bears clinch the division by beating the Pack on Christmas evening! :D]

No, you root against the giants, because theyre the only team that could beat the bears out for the #2 spot.

You're right. I know I shouldn't be so over-confident, but I really like our chances next week. An average day for Favre this year is 4-5 INTs and at least one returned for a touch.

Obvious goals for rest of season; win @ GB/win division - finish 3-0/12-4/secure NFC 2-seed - use bye week to get key parts back and healthy for playoffs - win Divisional round and go from there. :D

I love the fact this coaching staff made the change. It's anti-Dusty and I love it. If you don't perform you get benched. I think the change would have happened last week if it wasn't for the weather.

I understand it not happening last week aslo. Rex said during his interview after the game, last week was the 1st week he has felt 100%. They gave Kyle basically 1 and a half games to show more after Rex said he was 100% and when he didnt they made the change.

Lovie said that he has been ready for "a while," though. I'm guessing that was just Rex being nice to Kyle.

Vasher and Tank Johnson were just interviewd on Comcast. You could say they were a little happy about Gman. Vasher said the team gave Gman the game MVP in the lockerroom. Johnson said it was nice to be able to sit on the sidelines for 4-5 minutes at a time after Gman came in. Man this game got me pumped.

If anyone wants to see what that byebyecorey guy is saying about the events tonight, check out this thread...

But I warn you, upon entry to the ESPN boards, you lose like 10 IQ points automatically.

It's to the point where I think he's trolling...

Don't even joke about Orton losing his job. He is THE reason the Bears are where they are. He gets the win tonight, not Grossman. All though his number don't support it, he's the MVP of this team. Had we played with someone else QBing, we'd have 4-5 wins.

That's for sure. He was a little more hesitant to make this change, but when push came to shove, he made it.

Hmm... I don't know about you, but whoever that person is, I might recommend him to get his head examined.

The Bears Defense practically carried this team up to this point. Sure Orton has a few chip in's here and there, but he's deftinaly not the MVP of this team. The Bears D easily win that honor without any contest.

And it's easy to see that Grossman, while missing for the most part of the season, seemed confident and relaxed when he came in, while Orton's confidence might have been shaky at best.

WOO HOO!!!!

Great game by the BEARS! Grossman can take this team to another level.

I'm thrilled with the way things turned out, but I akso want to applaud Orton on going 9-4, and saying all the right things the whole time. He is a very respectable #2 QB. Bring on the Pack and the division title!

I think he gave Orton every chance to keep the job.

I think Lovie played this about as good as one could have.

Also, props need to be given to Bernard Berrian. He had a good day as a punt returner(no fumbles). Also gave a nice boost to the offense. Nice to see him make some plays

Indeed. I think one thing to take into consideration is how healthy Rex truly was before today. I think that if he was in better condition, Kyle might have gotten the hook in a quicker fashion.

Moose just on Comcast saying he was out of character by getting in Kyles face the way he did. He said that the last few weeks they have only been kicking field goals, and he just wanted to score a TD bad. Said he apologized to Kyle, and Kyle said he did also. Sounds really excited to have Grossman in there though.

I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of the Moose signing but I really like what he brings to the team.

Simply put, the Bears dominated this game. However, the officiating left a lot to be desired; particularly on the Vasher "interception."

From the NFL Rulebook:

A forward pass is complete when a receiver clearly possesses the pass and touches the ground with both feet inbounds while in possession of the ball.

Jenkins caught the ball, established possession of the ball, and was moving forward as he was about to get blasted at the 10-yd line. At that point, he can only lose the ball as a fumble. He hit the ground and the ball popped up to Vasher. Of course, the ground can't cause a fumble, so the play should have been dead with the Falcons having the ball 1st and goal.

Who knows what happens from there. The way things were going, it's unlikely that they come up with 2 TD's.

Nope. He never had full control of the ball. If you watch, you can clearly see the ball is not in control as he is going down. Plus, like in baseball, the player usually has to have control of the ball for a couple of seconds in order to have it considered a catch. He never did.

They call this making a "football move." Getting completely erased isn't a football move. The call was the right one. Whether or not the rule is a good one is another discussion.

Don't you need 1 TD before you can get 2?
