I've never been a big DC fan. I never feared him when the Bears played against Minny. If he was available for next to nothing, I might take a chance on him. However, his contract is not salary cap friendly, and the trade it would take would not make sense for the Bears.

I'd much rather have McNair. Of course, if Grossman takes us deep into the playoffs or wins the Super Bowl, I'll take more Grossman, please!

Lovie is the Anti-Dusty and I love it.

That's for sure. He was a little more hesitant to make this change, but when push came to shove, he made it.

I think he gave Orton every chance to keep the job.

I think Lovie played this about as good as one could have.

Indeed. I think one thing to take into consideration is how healthy Rex truly was before today. I think that if he was in better condition, Kyle might have gotten the hook in a quicker fashion.

I wanted Rex earlier, but I can't really complain about Lovie's timeline. When I saw Rex getting ready to come in I bolted up in my seat (went from laying down on my couch to sitting somewhat upright really) and was pumped. That was a move that had to be done. And I'm somewhat happy it happened midgame. I feel the hype surrounding Rex's first appearance being announced days in advance would have been too much of a distraction, and I don't like QB's to be too jacked up for a game, which he would have been if he was named starter on Tuesday before the game.

Now he got the first game action jitters out of the way. He's also going to a place where he has already won in the past.

Did anybody notice Peter King's fine fifteen note on the Bears? Last week he had the Bears 8th, after the Pittsburgh loss. Dallas, Tampa, Carolina and Pitt were all behind the Bears, and Atlanta was 15th. He basically said the loss to Pitt wasn't that big of a deal. This week he moved the Bears down to 10th, and put Carolina and Pittsburgh ahead of the Bears. Pitt, I won't argue. But the Bears just swept the NFC South, they already beat Carolina and dominated a good team at home one week after a loss that he said wasn't a big deal. How do they go down? And later he said: "How are the Bears going to win in January with that offense?" Does anybody think Peter went to bed a little early on Sunday after coming off a caffeine high? No mention of Grossman. The team was rated lower after winning a big game at home against a good but desperate team (desperate teams usually win even matchups). Peter, they aren't going to battle with the offense you last saw. Grossman won't put up 300 yards and 3 TDs a game, but this team no longer has to hold the opposition to less than 7 to have a good chance to win.

so did i, except i jumped up. i can only imagine how many bears fans did likewise.

oh man, and that first completion was golden. i wasn't at the game but i wouldn't have been surprised if the spaceship inside soldier field suddenly took off and flew back to wherever it came from at that point.

Agreed I thought the timing was good too. Rex said he felt fully healthy for the Pitt game for the first time. So basically Lovie gave Kyle a game and a half to show him something, and Kyle didnt step up to the challenge. Rex is going to take more chances and he will probably throw a pick here and there while taking a chance. However, with the Bears D they can afford a pick like last nights(if it wasnt fumbled) because more than likely Atl isnt going to drive 99 yards on them so the Bears would have got the ball back with good field position and been in a position to score again. If Grossman can come in and score 10 points a half(which is more than Kyle was doint) I like our chances in any game as I dont see our D giving up more than 20 points to very many teams.

As for Peter King, it doesnt surprise me. Watching Cold Pizza today and Skip Bayless had Carolina as the #1 team in the NFC with the Bears 2nd and the Seahawks 4th. How can anyone put Carolina ahead of the Bears after the way the Bears handled them and the entire NFC South. Also how can the Seahawks be #4? While I dont think they are as good as their record, they have to be a top 2 team along with the Bears. Also I would like the Bears chances against Seattle. The Bears showed last night against the #1 running team in the NFL that you cant run on them, and that was with 3 starters out.

Yea I was laid back in my computer chair relaxing, and then Jon said they were putting Grossman in and I shot straight up. That was an awesome 2nd half last night to watch, it was really a lot of fun.

I ran and hugged my girlfriend. She had no idea why. Then when I told her, she still didn't care.

my wife, who used to know nothing about football, or care very much about it, came home from work last night and said: "did you see rex? he was awesome!"

we talked about how excited we were for 15 minutes.

maybe your girlfriend just needs a little more time....

Lovie waiting to make the move was longer than I would have liked, but it really didn't cost us any games. The Steelers game was lost because we couldn't tackle, not because of Orton.

I initially supported Orton, through the Panthers game, but it became very clear that he was regressing at a pretty rapid rate. IF he has continued to put up 75ish QB ratings, I would have been fine sticking with him. Completing less than 50% of your passes in 3 consecutive starts is intolerable. As little as we throw, we must complete those throws to be effective.

Grossman clearly gives this team a better chance to go to the superbowl. Last week I was concerned by the D's health, but this week, Green, among others, really stepped up.

I'd like to comment that McGowan is looking like an excellent pickup. If there is one thing about Angelo, it's that he has an incredible ability to find defensive starters from small schools and later (or in McGowan's case) not even in the draft.

To have a defensive performance like that with 3 starters out was tremendous.

Leon Joe also played well. I remember an interview where JA said his biggest regret was cutting Joe. For those who don't know, Joe is an athletic freak who didn't really know how to play football. Judging from his play last night, it looks like he's getting the hang of it.

Championship teams in football have to have good depth. It seems like the Bears are starting to stockpile it at almost every position.

All those writers don't know jack. Although interesting to see where they place us on the rankings these guy don't have a clue. Some thought we would be the worst team in the NFL before the season started. I wanted Rex and if the conditions were good I think we would have seen Rex during the Steelers game. He's the starter now. They gave Orton every available chance and he couldn't do it.

Some injury updates from espn 1000.

Apparently Mike Brown came in really early on Friday and pleaded with Lovie to let him play in the game on Sunday. Because of the conditions and the fact they didn't want to risk a longer injury, the held him out. Mike should be back in the game at Lambeau and be close to full strength.

Chris Harris, Cedric Benson, and Todd Johnson should also be close to coming back this week. Hunter will probably be out another week or two. The Bears aren't really that worried though because they really liked what they saw in Leon Joe. They are not sure about Metcalf yet. He may play this week but he might also sit out. Last week he his injury got worse as the week went on so it will depend on how he practices.

By the way, Joe Theisman just drove me nuts last night, as he usually does.

How can a sports oriented station miss the boat so badly by employing Theisman AND Joe Morgan? [-(

The Bears/Vikings game was indeed moved back to a 3:15 start time to accommodate a larger audience. The other late Fox game is Redskins @ Eagles.

why did vick throw the ball at urlacher after the play in which urlacher wiped him out?

it was a good, clean, safe hit.

I'm not sure he threw it at him. I thought he threw it in disgust for having been caught by Urlacher, his nemesis, again. And it just happened to be in his general direction.

But then again, the KC player got a bogus 15 yard penalty for something similar the day before.
