Do you guys think a trade was in place, a PC was scheduled to report it, and then the trade fell through?

That's the only thing I could think of as to the confusion.

Its possible, but I think it was more of the Chicago media assuming something was being done because of it being delayed. My guess is Hendry was in the middle of discussions so he postponed the daily briefing, and now will go back to his discussions. I think by noon tomorrow something will have went down.

here's hoping for Milton Bradley

Here's hoping Milton wasn't listening to AM720. Wow, those clowns all but smacked his grandma in the face. They are horribly down on him.

If we get Bradley, the Chicago media is going to be merciless. Boers and Bernstein were BEGGING for Bradley today on behalf of all columnists and talk show hosts in town.

Yea its going to be bad. What a bunch of bs too. I will lose what respect I have for the CHicago media if they rip him before he even gets here. I dont remember them ripping Carl Everett like they have been Bradlely.

To be fair, Everett had disagreements with his manager and said the Boston fans were racist. Bradley allegedly choked his pregnant wife on separate occasions.

To be fair, why not give the guy a chance in the city of Chicago before they start calling him everything but an axe murderer which is what they have been doing.

Yeah, and Scottie Pippen used to beat up his girlfriend. Should we not retire his number this Friday?

All I care about is performance on the field. I may not like the guy, but if he can help us win, im fine with it.

they'll want this trade done by tomorrow night, right? since that's the deadline to offer arbitration and the dodgers don't want to offer it to bradley...

If its Milton Bradley for CPatt . I think Jim will do it .

Say the Cubs get Milton Bradley for Cpatt

Pierre - Pinto, Wellmeyer, Mitre,

Would they then be interested in Soranio?

Walker, Williams, Nova?

My understanding is NO! ... Not sure if he will resurface, I just don't think it will happen.

Can Bradley play right field? Cause if he can't, what are we gonna do for rightfield?

I think Bradley prefers CF.

What to do about RF? Jeromy Burnitz. I don't advocate it. I just have a feeling it will happen.

I'd really be shocked if the Dodgers took Patterson straight up for Bradley. I just don't believe that would be the deal. The Cubs would have to include someone else.

Perhaps. Then again, we're also talking about a GM who thought that Furcal was worth $13 million a year. If the Dodgers turn out to be amenable to a straight CF swap I'd do it in a heartbeat. If they want something more, I'd even include a mid-range pitching prospect to get it done. (It's not like we don't have a dozen of them who are in danger of being lost for nothing in the Rule 5 draft or who are out of options.)

So then whats the next move, outfield wise, if we do indeed trade for Bradley?

I remember you guys complaining about the score last year when they did this type of thing. This is frustrating.

it's mostly irritating. it makes me long for Kenny Williams to be the GM.

If you could get Bradley for only Patterson then why in the world would you give up all that (or anything, really) for Pierre? If we get Bradley stick him in center and focus on getting a RF. And once again, I'd like for anyone to explain to me a good reason for trading Walker for Soriano, even if it's a straight-up deal.

Yes. If we get Bradley, it will be for centerfield/leadoff. Hendry has stated numerous times that he wants a power bat for right.

I like Bradley a lot. I'll be pleased with this particular move, provided we didn't give up too much to get him.

I'll ask this hypothetical again: Bradley is a little injury prone. If the odds of him having a meltdown or getting hurt next year are 50/50, would you rather have Pierre than Bradley?

I'd rather have Bradley. And it's not close. I think I'd rather have Gathright over Pierre. Pierre is a one year rental at best, and Gathright could be Pierre's equal. Gathright would come cheaper in trade, cheaper on the budget, for a longer period of time.

I agree. I'd definitly throw in a mid-range prospect to make that deal happen. I just have to look at it the other way around. If we had Bradley, and the Dodger said, "Hey, we'll trade you this Corey Patterson fella who's coming off a solid .215, sub .300 OBP season for Milton Bradley. Don't worry, he's probably only going to make $3 million next year." I mean, I'd probably punch the guy in the face.

Don't worry. The word out of Texas is Soriano isn't on the Cubs radar. his D is too crappy at 2b and he won't move to the OF. :D

If Bradley is locked in, I'd work on Huff, Gathright and Lugo. If we only got Huff and Lugo, I'd still look into Wilkerson. Wilkerson, Murton and Huff can platoon.

An outfield of Wilkerson, Bradley and Huff looks pretty good, especially with Murton as the 4th outfielder. Heck, if you went that route, you wouldn't need Lugo. They could just stick Cedeno at SS with Walker at 2nd.

I doubt Rogers says anything. We would know something already.

Have there been any updates or other reports from any other sources (Levine, Miles, Ofman) about anything other than the usual vague reports of interest?
